Every moment beyond our present is a gift from God, and the future is always just ahead—unknown and unpredictable. Because we cannot control what lies ahead, the only way to face the future with confidence is to trust God completely. This trust means releasing our anxieties and refusing to carry burdens we were never meant to bear, instead casting all our cares on the Lord who cares for us. When we surrender our future to Him, we find peace in knowing that He is already there, working all things for our good. [05:09]
Psalm 18:30 (ESV)
"This God—his way is perfect; the word of the Lord proves true; he is a shield for all those who take refuge in him."
Reflection: What is one specific worry about your future that you need to release to God today, trusting Him to handle what you cannot control?
There is a way that often seems right to us, but it can lead to disappointment, pain, or even destruction. Throughout Scripture, we see examples—like Jonah, King Saul, and Peter—of people who chose their own way over God’s, only to face the consequences. God’s way, though sometimes requiring patience and surrender, always leads to life and blessing. Choosing His way over our own is an act of humility and wisdom, inviting His presence and guidance into every decision. [12:33]
Proverbs 14:12 (ESV)
"There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way to death."
Reflection: Can you recall a time when you chose your own way instead of God’s and what the outcome was? How might you choose differently in a current decision you’re facing?
God’s way is revealed through His Word, which is proven, unchanging, and trustworthy. The Word of God is not just a set of instructions but a living guide that lights our path and keeps us from stumbling. When we seek God’s direction through Scripture, we find clarity and assurance, knowing that He never contradicts Himself and that His promises are sure. The more we immerse ourselves in His Word, the more we align our lives with His perfect will. [23:21]
Psalm 119:105 (ESV)
"Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path."
Reflection: How can you make time today to seek God’s direction in His Word for a specific area where you need guidance?
God promises to be a shield for all who trust in Him, and this shield is closely connected to our faith. Just as a Roman soldier’s shield was designed to extinguish flaming arrows, our faith—rooted in God’s Word—protects us from the attacks and fears that come our way. When we trust God, even when circumstances are uncertain or frightening, we raise the shield of faith and experience His protection. Lowering our shield by giving in to fear or self-reliance leaves us vulnerable, but steadfast trust keeps us safe in His care. [29:43]
Ephesians 6:16 (ESV)
"In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one."
Reflection: What fiery dart—fear, temptation, or doubt—are you facing right now, and how can you actively lift up the shield of faith through prayer and God’s promises?
God invites us to bring our way—our plans, dreams, fears, and unknowns—to Him and lay them at His feet. Surrender is not a one-time act but a daily choice to trust that His way is perfect, even when we don’t understand. When we surrender, we experience freedom, peace, and the assurance that God will never forsake us. Today is an opportunity to let go of the “my way” spirit and embrace the life and future God has prepared for you, trusting that He is faithful and His way is always best. [38:11]
Romans 12:1 (ESV)
"I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship."
Reflection: What is one area of your life where you are still holding on to your own way? What would it look like to lay it at God’s altar today and trust Him fully?
Today’s focus is on the profound truth that God’s way is perfect, and that our future—every second, minute, hour, day, and year ahead—is best entrusted to Him. Life is not about where we are, but where we are headed, and the only way to face the unknown with confidence is by trusting God. We are reminded that we cannot carry what we cannot control; instead, we are called to cast our cares upon the Lord, who cares for us deeply. The wisdom of King David in Psalm 18:30, “As for God, His way is perfect; the word of the Lord is proven; He is a shield to all who trust in Him,” serves as the anchor for this truth.
Throughout history, even the greatest leaders—David, Solomon, Jonah, Saul, and Peter—have struggled with the temptation to do things their own way. Their stories reveal the consequences of a “my way” spirit, and the blessing that comes when we surrender to God’s way. God’s way is not always the most obvious or comfortable, but it is always perfect. His presence accompanies those who walk in obedience, just as He guided Israel with a pillar of fire and a cloud, stood with Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in the furnace, and led the wise men to Christ.
God’s way is revealed through His Word. His Word is proven, unchanging, and never contradicts itself. When we seek direction, we are to inquire of the Lord, just as David did repeatedly. The Word of God is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path, guiding us through both the known and the unknown. Every piece of spiritual armor described in Ephesians 6 is rooted in the Word, and the shield of faith is effective only when we trust in God’s promises rather than our own understanding or feelings.
Trust and faith are inseparable. The shield of faith protects us from the fiery darts of the enemy, but only if we hold it up in trust, refusing to react in fear or revert to our own ways. The world offers many paths, but only one leads to life—God’s way, through Jesus Christ. We are invited to lay down our “my way” spirit, bring our future, hopes, dreams, and fears to the altar, and trust in the One whose way is perfect. God has never failed, and He never will.
Psalm 18:30 (ESV) — > As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the Lord proves true; he is a shield for all those who take refuge in him.
Do you know that his way brings his presence? I love that. If you do things his way, his presence will come, provide, and abide. He was the fire by night and the cloud by day for Moses and the Israelites, wasn't he? Here, an unthinkable endeavor leading the Jewish people out of Egypt, the great Exodus. And then when the hoofbeats of Pharaoh's chariots and horses were pursuing to take the Jewish people out and to destroy them, once again, you would have thought that Pharaoh would have learned his lesson with the 10 plagues. But you've heard me say it many times, and you'll hear me say it time and time again. Sin will make you stupid. You can't outthink, you can't outlive, and you can't outpower Almighty God. If God doesn't speak, don't get ahead of God, like King Saul did, take things into your own hands, a my way, spirit, and motivation. Just wait until he speaks. Listen to me, he still speaks. He's speaking right now. He speaks through his word. He speaks prophetically through the gifts. He speaks through others. He still speaks. And when you and I do things his way, his presence will go before us and prepare the way for us as well. [00:22:15] (40 seconds) #HisWayIsHisWord
What exactly is His way? People say, well, what is His way, Pastor? Listen to me. Write this down. It's very simple. It'll change your life if you don't know it already. His way is His Word. Did you hear me? His way is His Word. [00:22:59] (22 seconds) #GodsWordNeverFails
God always proves, authenticates, confirms by His Word. That's why He can never contradict His Word. If He contradicts His Word, that means God changed His mind. And the mind of God, the mind of Christ, God incarnate, never changes. He's the same what? Yesterday, somebody say it. Today, and what's the last? Forever. He never changes. That means He never contradicts His Word. Scripture says He esteems His Word even over His name. That's how important His Word is. [00:25:34] (36 seconds) #LightForMyPath
David inquired of the Lord. What was he doing? He was asking God's opinion, God's direction, God's plan. He was asking the Lord for help. David inquired of the Lord. He recognized his need for God's direction in his life. And do you know what? We need to do the same. I can assure you, because I've done it. You will mess things up if you do things your way. Some of you are saying, Pastor, I've already done that. Well, welcome to the club. You can't live life and not have done at some point in time things your way and then mess things up because of a my way motivation. That old song, I did it my way. My way will mess you up. I did it God's way. Hallelujah. [00:27:45] (58 seconds) #FaithShieldsUs
Do you know that Satan cannot, let me stress again, Satan cannot penetrate the shield of faith. You may think otherwise, but you're wrong. Others may think otherwise, but they're wrong. Satan cannot penetrate the shield of faith. [00:29:09] (18 seconds) #TrustAndShieldTogether
``I have found many roads lead to hell, but only one leads to heaven. How many believe that? Trust in his way. Trust in his word. And church, trust in his shield. Remember the words of David. As we close this service, His way is perfect. Say it with me. His way is perfect. One more time. His way is perfect. [00:36:59] (40 seconds) #AnswerGodsCall
