#TrustAndObey
“``There's no backup plan. So here's what we're we're we're just kinda circling this whole topic here, this whole sermon here today as I bring this to a close is that we must trust God with only what he can do, but we faithfully do what he has called us to do. K? And so understanding God's sovereignty doesn't re doesn't remove our responsibility and our faithfulness. But our faithfulness then is energized by God's sovereignty, and then we must obey. So every one of us has an Esther moment, not necessarily before a king, regularly before decisions where obedience costs something. So the question is, will we trust God enough to obey him? That's the question.”

#UnknownOutcomeTrustGod
“Remember, Esther didn't know right here of how that meeting was gonna go with the king. She has no we know the end of the story. And so it's easy for us to be like, yeah. Go, Esther. Go. You can do this. Esther had no idea what was gonna happen. She really thought she had a a a great possibility of walking into that king's into the king's presence, and that would be the last act of her life. She made it very clear. We don't know how the end of the chapter is gonna be written here. We don't know how that conversation's gonna end up. We don't know how our child will respond to our parenting. We don't know whether the diagnosis will improve. We don't know whether the ministry that we're trying to do is ultimately gonna be successful. But here's what we do know. We know that God is sovereign over every one of those scenarios, and the results are up to him. Because he's sovereign, we can obey today and leave tomorrow with him.”

#ChristSecuresAcceptance
“But I gotta bring this back to Christ because Jesus didn't did did significantly, infinitely more than that. He came for the very purpose of laying down his life. Esther approached an earthly king hoping that she might be accepted. But Jesus approached the cross knowing exactly what was awaiting him. He came to this earth knowing that rejection was ahead of him. Esther offered herself to save a nation from physical death. Jesus offers himself to save people from every nation from eternal death. And because Christ, he willingly gave his body and shed his blood, we no longer approach God wondering if we're accepted or not. Through Christ, we are welcomed in the presence of the king. Esther didn't know she'd be accepted in the presence of the king, but because of Christ, we are accepted.”

#FaithfulnessNotControl
“And so we don't control the the success. The only thing we control is our faithfulness. Right? So people, they often refuse to obey because they feel responsible for the outcomes. And so they're they they don't wanna they don't wanna move forward because they don't wanna fail in those areas. So I don't wanna share the gospel with that person because they may reject me. So it's like, well, the outcome may be that they make fun of me. The outcome may be that they cut me off. The outcome may be that they mock me. And so I'm not gonna obey because the outcome may not be what I want it to be. So for fear of what the outcome may be, I don't do what I'm supposed to do. Whereas if we rest in god's sovereignty and say, well, hey. Listen. You know, the outcome's along with the lord. I'm just supposed to be faithful. Then we can be free.”

#GodGivesTheIncrease
“It's like, you know, a farmer, you know, he can plant a seed, he can water the seed, he can remove the weeds and things like that, but at the end of the day, the only thing that causes that seed to grow is God. The only thing that gives life is God. And and Paul, he talks about this. Right? He says, I planted Apollos watered, but God gave the increase. Right? Okay? And so this is this is where resting against sovereignty of God is so important because we often spend our emotional energy worrying about things that only God controls. And so here, Mordecai, he's encouraging Esther and saying, the results are up to the Lord here, but obey, do something. Don't worry about the outcomes. The outcomes are gonna be what the Lord has in mind for us here. So at the end of the day, God calls us to faithfulness, not to control the outcome.”

#RestInGodsSovereignty
“I'm like, ah, I don't know how to do this. I don't know how God's gonna accomplish his purpose. I don't know how that this is gonna happen if I don't do this perfectly, if I don't do this right, and if I I I just can't make a mistake. You see, resting in God's sovereignty removes the the the fear of despair. So both sides that were removed from by resting in God's sovereignty of, like, yes, we need to work hard. Yes, we need to do our best. Yes, we need to be disciplined. Yes, we need to obey. I'm not denying any of those things, but the reality is that none of us are perfect, and we're gonna fall short at times. And God's ultimate purposes aren't contingent upon our perfection. They were contingent upon someone else's perfection, and his name was Jesus. Right?”

#ConfidenceInChristNotCourage
“And so we come to the table this morning, we remember that our confidence isn't ultimately found in like a courage like Esther's. It's found in Christ's obedience. The one who sovereignly rules all things also sovereignly gives himself for our salvation. And so, we can rest in him this morning. We can obey him. We can trust him with every outcome until the day that we see him face to face.”

#SovereigntyEmpowersResponsibility
“And so one of the greatest mistakes that we make is when we confuse those two things, when we try to take responsibility for what only God can do, and then sometimes neglect the very things that he's given us the responsibility to do. So if we confuse those things, then we have some problems. And so Esther four here is just a really good chapter reminds us of how the two categories of God's sovereignty and human responsibility must coexist. And so the reality is that God's sovereignty doesn't eliminate our responsibility. It actually empowers it. K? So we're gonna look at today from the the the the point that I hope we walk home away with today after looking at Esther four today is this, is that God's sovereignty gives us confidence to courageously fulfill our responsibilities.”
