Sermon Summary

Sermon Clips

Jesus called out with a loud voice, father into your hands I commit my spirit and when he had said this he breathed his last now friends this subject of death is relevant to every person here today unless the Lord Jesus Christ comes first this will happen to you. [00:00:54]

Death is nothing other than the temporary separation of your spirit from your body and I use the word temporary in this definition because the Bible teaches the resurrection of the body remember on the third day the tomb was empty Jesus rose from the dead and those who belong to him the Bible says will share in his resurrection. [00:03:53]

You are a body Spirit Union that is how God has made you the Breath of Life in a body that could be chemically analyzed it is from the dust of the ground and yet it has life in it and H and you are this body Soul Unity your body belongs to the Earth dust you are and to dust you will return. [00:05:28]

The focus of attention is not on the body it is on the spirit because while you have a body your body is not who you are the body is not defining for you the spirit is it's very important to understand your body will die your spirit will go on that's why Paul says the life I live think about this in the body. [00:09:44]

Physical training is of some value so he wants to give it value there is value he says physical training is of some value but godliness has value for all things holding the promise both for this present life and for the life to come now you see the force of his argument. [00:11:38]

Jesus says father the first time he speaks father forgive them they do not know what they are doing and the last time that he speaks father into your hands I commit my spirit and between these two wonderful words of fellowship with the father lies this awful abyss of darkness that we tried to explore together. [00:14:09]

Jesus experienced the first death and the second death at precisely the same time he died a double death on the cross in fact strictly speaking think about it Jesus endured the second death before he entered the first death right there in these three hours on the darkness. [00:15:42]

By his death Jesus Christ changed the nature of death for all who are with Him Alec mattier says this death for a Christian is not so much something that happens to you as something that God works for you the death of a Christian he says quoting the Old Testament is precious to God. [00:24:34]

Your spirit goes into the immediate presence pres of God into the hands of the father that is why the New Testament says to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord and Friends whatever happens to your body whatever happens to your body your spirit is safe in The Father's hands. [00:28:54]

Jesus has been in the hands of Sinners he said that himself I'm going to be betrayed into the hands of Sinners and look what they did to him but now he places his Spirit into the father's hands the father's hands are the place of eternal security remember how Jesus said no one can snatch you from the father's hands. [00:30:42]

Here is our Lord Jesus Christ in an Act of Faith in the moment of death that is born out of a life that is lived for the father's glory and as I've tried to meditate on this this week it's just refresh this in my own life I want to live in such a way that when I die I have a knowledge of the father. [00:35:06]

Call on Christ today in Repentance and faith in order that you may be entitled to call on him in the hour of your extremity on him as your lord so that he may confess you as his people on that day will you do that today Father into your hands I commit my spirit. [00:38:53]
