#GraceThroughChrist
“But that's not what God wants. We know his name and we know his son's name because he wanted us to know his name and because he wanted to make a covenant with us through the blood of his son. And so, what he did was he said, I'm gonna send my son and he's gonna live by my code perfectly. But he's gonna go to a cross anyway. He's gonna die on a cross because there, all the wrath that I was gonna pour out on you, I pour out on him. And all of his goodness, his perfection, I take that and I put it on you. And now I see you as holy and righteous and blameless, as agreeing with my word.”

#FaithNotFortune
“is that you stop thinking about the foundation and the walls and the doors, and you think about all the riches, all the blessings, all the things that make my life better. And so, I start paying attention to those things and I'm less motivated by fear and I'm more motivated by gain. That's the that's the danger. I can I can take these proverbs and wow, you know, if I live this right, I can get more stuff? And the proverbs become self help. They become a bunch of maxims that just make your life more pleasing.”

#AdmitYouDontKnow
“Admit you don't know better than him. What do you need to admit? What do you need to change? And just give up and say, Okay, God, I I've been trying to live this out for myself, and I know I can't. So I admit it, and I want you to take over. Keep trusting God to keep living wisely by admitting this.”

#GuardAgainstProsperity
“You're gonna have a problem when things start getting really nice for you, you're gonna forget me. And Edgar, he knows this and so he says, hey, God, one thing I want you to do for me, don't put me in a situation that I might forget. Don't give me so much stuff. Don't give me so many blessings that I forget you and forget where they came from. Instead, I wanna keep my mind on you.”

#NoJustifyingSin
“Another part of it was there in verse nine too. Lest I be poor and steal and profane the name of my God. Lest I be poor and steal and profane the name of my God. And so what he's saying is, look, it's kinda feeling like if I don't have anything, I'm gonna be tempted to justify sin. I'm gonna be tempted to say, oh, this this is okay. I can do this because, you know, it's it's the circumstances just leave room for me to do it like this and I don't have to do it God's way. He says, no, God, I I don't I don't want that. Don't let me compromise in that way. Don't let me change my my view towards you that way.”

#HeartCanDeceive
“God, here's what I know. There are things I believe that aren't true. There are things I believe, kinda like that code. I believe those things, but I know that they're not true. And especially when I want something, it's really easy to believe lies then. When I really, really want this thing, I can convince myself that it's true. Well, he knows that his own heart is actually deceptive.”
29s
#RemoveDeception
“He he knows the proverbs. He's a wise person. He knows that his own heart is deceptive, that he's prone to wander away from God, and he also knows that the father of lies, the thief who comes to steal, kill, and destroy is at work. And so he says, look, I I recognize this about myself, and so I want you to remove it far from me. Take these kinds of things away where I'm where I'm trying to help you or where I'm trying to to decide what's right on my own apart from your word.”
26s
#DontReplaceGodWithExperience
“This is where it's a temptation for me. Is that I've got all this experience and I know how to do it. I don't need to go talk to God about writing this sermon. I already know. Okay. What about you? What about you? What blessing do you have in your life right now that makes God seem less necessary?”
