#TrustThroughWaiting
“``Some of you, the most powerful part of today's sermon is simply this, stop trying to understand everything and trust God. And so our next point is this, trust God when the answer doesn't come. This may be the heart of the whole message right here because it's easy to trust God when the prayers get answered. It's easy to testify when the scan comes back clean. It's easy to praise when the door opens. It's easy to say, god is good when life feels good. But what happens when it doesn't? What happens when you prayed and you're still waiting? What happens when you believed and the situation got worse? What happens when you did everything you knew to do and you still don't understand what's going on? That's where we discover the difference between trusting god's hand and trusting god's heart.”

#TrustBeyondUnderstanding
“Because I like understanding. Anybody else? You like understanding. I like knowing what's going to happen. I like knowing why and how and where it came from. I like knowing how God is going to fix it. I like knowing when it's going to be fixed. But God never said he never said, understand me with all of your heart. He said, trust me with all of your heart. And so trust begins where my understanding ends.”

#FaithInWhoHeIs
“I love those words. His heart is fixed. The news changed, but his heart didn't. The circumstances changed, but his trust didn't. The report changed, but his god didn't. Listen to this. Mature faith doesn't say, god, I'll trust you if you do what I want. Mature faith says, god, I'll trust you because I know who you are. And don't get me wrong. We absolutely pray for healing. We believe God still heals. We pray boldly. We ask boldly. We believe boldly, but our faith isn't ultimately to the outcome. It's tied to Jesus.”

#EvenIfITrust
“You see, that's deep faith. Although yet, although I don't see it, yet I trust him. We talked about it a few weeks back if you were here, an even if kind of faith, even if it doesn't turn out this way, even if it doesn't go my way, I'm gonna serve the Lord. I'm gonna believe. I'm gonna trust him. We learned that lesson from the three Hebrew boys and from Daniel here a few weeks ago. We learned that lesson from Job. Although the answer hasn't come yet, I will worship him. Although I'm still hurting, yet I believe. Although the diagnosis the diagnosis scares me, Yet I know who my God is. Although my family isn't where I want them to be. Come on, somebody. Yet I trust God with them. Although I don't know what tomorrow will hold, yet I know who holds tomorrow.”

#FaithWithQuestions
“But I love that prayer because it's such an honest picture of faith. I believe, but I'm still struggling. And Jesus didn't reject him for that. There's room in faith for questions. And if you are a person like my father was, who has a lot of questions about God and how he operates and how he exists and all of these things. Can I tell you it's okay to bring your questions to him? There is room and faith for uncertainty. There is room and faith for learning. There is room and faith for growing. You don't have to have great faith. You just need to have faith in our great God.”

#GodSeesTheWholeStory
“Your perspective is limited to what you can see in front of you. Come on, somebody. The GPS has a different perspective than what you do. And can I tell you this morning how much greater is God's perspective about our life and what we can see for ourselves? It's so much greater than what we see today because he sees tomorrow. We see the obstacle, but God sees the opportunity he's gonna give us. We see the closed door, but God sees what is behind it. We get lost in the chapter of our story, but God sees the whole story.”

#EternitySecured
“Peace isn't necessarily knowing what's going to happen. Peace is knowing now. No matter what happens, I know I'm gonna be okay. And I say, well, what secures that? What helps me with that? 11 times the bible references the book of life. When you confess that Jesus is your Lord and savior, when you believe in him, when you enter into a relationship with him, the Bible says your name is written down in heaven and the lamb's book of life. Your name is written down in heaven. Your name is registered in heaven. What does that mean? No matter what happens to me here in this life, my eternity is secured in the good shepherd.”

#ObedienceOverStriving
“So if I understood everything God was doing, I wouldn't need faith. If I understood where my life was going, I understood what the answers to the questions were, and I understood what was coming at me, and I understood what was gonna happen in thirty years. I wouldn't need him. I wouldn't need faith. I I could think that, hey, I can do this on my own. I may not need him as much as I do. That's why god can do more with your obedience than you can with your striving.”
