Proverbs 3:5-6 calls the heart to trust the Lord, not just believe that God can do something. Faith believes God can, but trust believes God will still be God even when He does not do what was expected. The text presses deeper than simple belief because every relationship with God eventually reaches a place where something cannot be explained, a prayer is not answered the desired way, or a season comes that nobody would have chosen.

Trust issues often begin when people have been let down, hurt, misled, or abandoned, and those wounds can get projected onto God.
