Sermon Clips

God's faithfulness in rewarding those who serve them should inspire us to stay steadfast as we face life as we face trials our perseverance not only reveals his glory but also can transform our circumstances in unexpected ways you know sometimes it's just a matter of perception we say hindsight is 2020 so as I was riding up to the situation I thought man I really don't want to get involved I got a chili dog waiting for me I do not want to get involved that's going to take a couple of hours probably and I'm hungry. [00:31:38]

This shows how our willingness to invest our time our talent our treasure our livelihood for the gospel can create a legacy that will bless future generations sometimes we have to see beyond the moment in front of us and see and understand that this will bless future generations in ways that we may not see in our time you know if you plant a tree right now you may not see all of the fruit that it produces but your grandchildren and your great great grandchildren may and they may be the ones blessed by that. [00:36:15]

See, sacrifices made for the kingdom often have blessings that extend beyond our understanding. And we are encouraged to remain steadfast in our faith during trials as God's faithfulness in rewarding service reveals his glory and can lead to unexpected transformations in our circumstances. So my question for you today is how does God's faithfulness in rewarding those who serve him inspire you to persevere through trials and transform your perceptions of your circumstances? [00:38:56]

Because we see in the passage that Daniel had been and been placed in exile, that Judah had been completely taken over, that everything looked pretty bleak for your people. Yet you still were blessing them behind it all. See, we know that from the passage that so much was given to Daniel, but it was not from Nebuchadnezzar that these things happened, Lord, that you were the one who gave the blessings, that you were the one who gave the increase, Lord, that you were the one to be glorified through it all. [00:40:42]

It's hard to think about it that way. Well, if you, if it could, because that sounds like a works-based righteousness, right? If you do this, then I will reward you. Well, I will just tell you straightforward. If you believe in Christ, if you believe in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, that he died and was risen and is at the right hand of the Father, that he was the lamb who paid the cost for your sins, guess what? There's a reward for you. [00:42:35]

And see, we can be encouraged that God elevates the faithful by looking at this passage. Being elevated as you are faithful, as you show your faithfulness, may not be apparent. And this is something I also have to think about along the way. Have you ever considered that your blessings are burdens? Well, let me flip that around. Have you ever considered that these burdens you're dealing with are blessings? [00:45:37]

Now, the same thing is happening here where when God gives us, when God gives us blessings, it is not for us to hoard. It is not for us to say, look at what I've done. This is from what God has done. We are blessed to be a blessing. The parable illustrates that when we show our faith and the resources God has given us, we grow in our capabilities and receive greater opportunities in his kingdom, affirming that God blesses those who are faithful. [00:48:46]

God has given you a purpose, a mission, a thing to do with your life while you are here on this earth. And see, the exaltation of Daniel is just a foreshadowing of what will happen with Christ. Christ continued to be obedient to God's will. And he walked all the way to the cross and was crucified. And yet, scripture still says that after three days, he was risen to the right hand of the Father. [00:49:56]

Set a time each week to think about how your skills can help build community. Volunteer to support something. Build community. This will help you be faithful with your talents and open doors for you to witness to people around you in the community or at your job or at the grocery store. God's exaltation of the faithful is not merely a momentary recognition. It leads to transformative outcomes that extend beyond our understanding, extend beyond a time that we will see. [00:53:19]

We have the opportunity to bless others because of what God has done through us or is continuing to do in us and through us. And see, Daniel requests position for his friends, demonstrating the power of godly leadership and compassion for others. So God not only exalts the faithful, but he empowers those exalted. He empowers the faithful. [00:58:39]

A church that experiences abundant blessings can only continue this mission of serving others if we are a part of a culture of giving and loving others, taking that blessing to bless others. In Christ, we see that he was exalted for and suffered on the cross. He came and lived a life that we could not live and die the death that we could not die for us. He did all of that for those who would believe in him. [01:01:35]

So as we reflect on God's empowerment of the faithful, we recognize that our perseverance in trials isn't just for our benefit. Our blessings isn't just for our benefit. It's a testament for his glory. So as I try to land this plane, I want you to reflect on the truth regarding how God elevates and empowers us for his glory. Throughout scripture, we consistently see evidence of this principle. [01:04:39]
