Sermon Clips

"Gather the riches of God's promises. Nobody can take away from you those texts from the Bible which you have learned by your heart." And how about you? Have you learned scriptures? Do you have scriptures in your heart? You should. [00:02:57]

Be careful how you think. Your life is shaped by your thoughts. You might want to write down some of these passages, some of these verses. Again, this is in Proverbs 4:23. Be careful how you think your life is shaped by your thoughts. [00:07:23]

Your thoughts have incredible power, but God has given you incredible power over your thoughts through Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit that dwells in you, the believer. Your thoughts are moving you in the direction of those thoughts, but God gives you the power to overcome those thoughts, especially the negative thoughts. [00:11:46]

The mind governed by the flesh is death. But the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace. If you're hurting, you're broken, discouraged, depressed, upset, you're down spiritually, could it be that your mind is set on? Is that a negative? Is that a negative? [00:14:13]

Negative events tend to stick in our brains more than positive ones. To prove this, what spreads faster on social media in the news? Negative or positive? Comments. 97, 98, or 98 % of all the news is negative. Why? That's what sells. [00:16:23]

Most of what you see and hear online is negative. Most of what you hear from your friend co-workers neighbors is negative. Most of what you see and hear in the news is negative. Most of what you hear in politics is negative. Most of what you see on TV is negative and most of what you tell yourself is negative. [00:20:32]

David in the Old Testament, shows us what to do when hit by an unbelievable amount of negative misfortune. In 1 Samuel 30, and if you have your Bibles, you can turn there. In 1 Samuel 30, chapter 30, it was the worst day in David's life. Worse than your week ever was. [00:30:48]

Some of you may feel so lonely right now and down. David found strength in the Lord. Some of you are at that low point in your life and need to find strength in the Lord. So what did David say to do that? What did he say to the Lord to gain that strength? [00:37:39]

We should be doing that with the word of God. Now, I don't know if you've ever heard of the word ruminate. Ruminate is also translated as meditate in the Hebrew language. We are to ruminate on the word of the Lord. Get every nutritional value out of his word for our soul. [00:43:48]

When you're struggling and at a very low point in your life find a verse in the word of God that can minister to your soul like David did, like Moses did, like Noah did like Daniel and like Paul, like Matthew, Mark, Luke and John did. And most of all, like our Lord Jesus did. [00:46:02]

Let's have a negative fast. From the news, from social media, from dark, demonic, musical lyrics. Let's turn to the word of God. Let's strengthen our soul like David did. Like Daniel did. Daniel prayed morning, noon, and night. [00:54:13]

When we gather one to another, we strengthen one another. We encourage one another. We lift up one another. That's hard to get out in the world. That's hard to get in the workplace. Their mindset is not what yours and mine are. It's not set on the things of God. [00:55:31]
