#CompassionForTheUnbeliever
“Before a person finds Jesus, or better said, before Jesus finds them, a person's mind is broken and damaged and deceived. Now this should change the way that we think about people who are not believers. I grew up in a believing household. I was a believer from since I can remember anything and I believed in Jesus Christ and I always kind of had this sense that people who were not Christians, they were living in rebellion against God and they were—what's the word that I would categorize them as—it was not a nice word—losers maybe or something like that—like they're rebellious, they're against God. And I kind of had this feeling about people who were unregenerate. And as I grow my faith, I get to understand that their minds are damaged and deceived and apart from a gracious work of God the Father in their life, they have no hope. They can't do it themselves. And so that should make our hearts break with compassion toward people who aren't Christians, who aren't believers, instead of looking down our spiritual noses at people who don't get it yet.”

#RenewedMindInChrist
“Our minds are damaged and deceived before Christ, but when we come to Christ by faith, our minds then are empowered by the Holy Spirit to be discerning and then even, yes, to be devoted to God who we were once in rebellion toward. When we come to Jesus Christ, we are saved, we are a new creation. Second Corinthians 5:17, the old is gone, the new has come, you and now we've been given the mind of Christ we read first Corinthians chapter 2 verse 16. A saved person can be transformed now by the renewing of our mind. We don't have to conform to the pattern of this world any longer. We've been set free from the matrix of our society. We've been set free to the truth and the reality of God and who he is and our minds can be transformed now supernaturally so that we can discern between the wisdom of this age and the wisdom of God.”

#BereansOpenToTruth
“The church begins to grow as it proclaims that Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. That there's a bigger king than Caesar. The biggest king ever is the Lord Jesus Christ. And he came to die on the cross, a sinner's death for you. But he rose again from the dead and he's coming back. And so believe on him today for eternal life.”

“Because the reality of the gospel is that our faith, our salvation is not dependent upon our performance because none of us can live up to perfection and God's holiness, but there is one who did and his name is Jesus. And so you should be encouraged today and be lifted up that Jesus did the work for you and it's not based on your feelings.”

“While they received this good word, they were grounded in reviewing ideas according to God's word. That's examining the scriptures daily. That's what they did. So while it's a good thing to be open to new ideas, not all new ideas are created equal. And so we must take every new idea and weigh it according to God's word.”

“And so the word of God is given to us as a filter for all new ideas to be weighed and to be judged. And so this is why the word of the word of God is central to everything that we do here at Village. What's our what's our name again? Village Bible Church. And so when you come to church on Saturday night in Spanish, you're going to hear the Bible. When you come to church Sunday morning in English, you're going to hear the Bible. Our kids are going to be learning from the Bible right now as they learn the scriptures. Our theology class is about the Bible. Our small groups are about the Bible. We filter all of these ideas through the word of God.”
