If you read the Old Testament, particularly the book of Exodus, Numbers, Deuteronomy, you will discover that the children of Israel, God's people, whom he brought out of captivity, he brought out of Egypt, he's taken them to the promised land. That journey should have taken 10 days. It took 40 years. A 10-day walk turned into a 40-year journey. Why? Because they couldn't stop freaking complaining over and over and maybe in your life. Maybe that's why you're not where you need to be because you got a problem with your mouth. Maybe, maybe, maybe you're not where you need to be because you can't stop complaining about where you are. Maybe if you showed more gratitude, and appreciation and thankfulness to God, maybe your situation would turn around. [00:09:54] (64 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)

Instead of whining, we have to trust in God's provisions. We have to focus on the blessings around us because when you whine, you sound like you are entitled. Like you're not supposed to go through anything. And Jesus was nailed to a cross. But, oh you, oh you in Indy, you're not supposed to go through nothing because you're Christian. Jesus said, in this world, you will have trouble. Count on it. But we shouldn't whine about it because whining, whining, whining, whining, whining, whining, whining, whining, produces negativity that stunts our growth. It blocks our growth because it focuses on problems and not solutions. Someone said whining is like a rocking chair. It keeps you busy, but it doesn't get you anywhere. Be careful of how you think because your life is shaped by your thoughts. So if you have, this negative Nancy mindset this negative Nicholas mindset it blinds you thank you I appreciate that one amen right there thank you a negative mindset a cynical mindset only focuses on what's not right what's missing we have to shift and focus on let me see the good let me let me see the good because a negative mindset like Solomon we miss seeing God's blessings his blessings are right there our brain sometimes can be so negative and so cynical we can miss the blessings right there they're there you just got to see it from a different perspective you got to look at it from a different angle we're gonna choose hope over despair we're gonna get a different perspective that's why counseling and therapy is important. Be thankful in all circumstances. Yes, it's hard. Yes, it's tough. Yes, it's difficult. Yes, I'm impatient. Yes, I'm in pain. Yes, I'm going through. But I need you to learn what it means to be comfortable, church, being uncomfortable. We live in a world that teaches us that comfort is everything. Jesus said, in this world, we will have trouble. And we don't like to be uncomfortable. That's why we go to substances. That's why you drink too much. That's why you smoke too much. That's why you gamble. much. That's why you're dealing with porn. That's why you're having affairs because we don't know how to, as you, we don't know how to sit in loneliness. We don't know how to sit in uncomfortability. I got people coming to my office all the time. Sean, what am I supposed to do? It's hard. It's difficult. It's tough. Sit in it because if you can feel it, you can heal it. We got to trust God in all circumstances. Proverbs 3, 5, and 6. Let's read it together. Trust in the Lord with all your heart. Do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. Look at the response. What happens when we stop complaining very quickly? Number one, we become blameless. Number two, we demonstrate integrity. Number three, we become a witness. Live clean, innocent lives as children of God. Shining bright like a diamond in a world full of crooked and perverse people. Gratitude honors God. We're not going to focus on the problem. We're going to focus on God's provision. We're going to start entering into his gates with thanksgiving and into his courts with praise. So number one, we got to develop an attitude of gratitude. Number two, I'm coming in for a landing. We got to start speaking positively. How do I know that? Because the scripture says death and life are in the power of the tongue. Our words, our words have power. It takes just this amount of energy to speak positively about a situation than it does to complain about a situation. Same energy. We got to use, use, have good dedim income to be a choose our words. We got to choose to speak to ourselves, to speak to our problems all through the Psalms. [00:43:19] (63 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)

Be very careful. Those two words, I am. In fact, when Jesus used the word I am in John 8, they picked up stones and about to kill him because they only knew of one I am who was in the Old Testament. So, stop speaking over your life. Words like I am dumb and I am stupid and I am broke and I am nothing. Stop speaking that junk over your life and start speaking positive words. Life and death in the power of the tongue. I am a child of the king. I am filled with the Holy Spirit of the living God. I am more than a conqueror. Greater is he that is in me than he that is in this world. If God be for me, who can be against me? See, this is why you got to know the word.
