1. "We are continuing our series that we're calling Beauty for Ashes, where we are being reminded that the Bible tells us the story of God's unfolding plan of salvation for the world. And that what we learn is that in his agape style, love made real in Jesus, God is seeking to reconcile the whole world to himself, not counting people's sins against them, but offering mercy, grace, and forgiveness instead, because his desire is to bring beauty out of the ashes of the brokenness of our lives in this fallen and hurting world." 2. "And we know that God is at work in all of these personal journeys, restoring and redeeming these aspects of our lives. And that's a really important part of this series that we need to make clear is that no matter what has happened to you, no matter what you've done, God wants to work in your life to bring restoration and healing and wholeness to your life." 3. "The real challenge, he says, is that it can be easy for us to disperse. We can dismiss languishing in our lives as a problem, as a problem we need to face and as something we need to address and as something that he wouldn't say this because he's not writing from a Christian perspective, but something that God wants to help you and me overcome. He wants to bring healing to that brokenness in our lives as well." (

4. "Cultivating these kinds of practices, he said, isn't about finding short -term, quick -fix solutions, but it's about building resilience into your daily life and routines as habits that will support your life. And he says, resilience isn't about just coping with adversity or bouncing back quickly. It's about learning to nurture the sustainable habits and lifestyle behaviors that foster personal growth and human flourishing. That's a mouthful, but it's a pretty good statement. Now, I don't know about you, but I always find it interesting when science finally begins to catch up with the Bible. Right?" (

5. "Faithfulness, I'd like to suggest for us today, is more about the kind of resilience that we have in our lives. It's not about being perfectly faithful at all times. It's about the kind of resilience that Keyes talks about in his book. It's about learning to nurture the sustainable habits and lifestyle behaviors that foster personal growth and human flourishing. I mean, that's what the Bible talks all about, and particularly the ones that we believe have been revealed to us by God in Jesus." (

6. "And so in this parable, we see that Jesus teaches that success is defined by faithfulness and wise stewardship rather than by the amount of profit or the level of success. Success of each servant, even though each, even, sorry, even though the servant with two talents made less than the one with five, he was equally commended for his faithfulness. Again, the goal of faithfulness is not perfection, but the resilience to keep pursuing the things of God." (

7. "And so what the Bible teaches and what even apparently sociological research is bearing out is that when we choose to act in faithfulness, regardless of how we feel in the moment, we're actually building the foundation of genuine well -being into our lives. Man, do you think God knew what he was doing?" (

8. "Whenever you may be in a situation where you're in a situation where you're in a situation where you're wherever you may sense God is leading you, whatever you feel God might be calling you to pursue in Christ, it is faithfulness in these small things that builds this resilience in our lives, leading to a more satisfied life of both being and doing, and that opened the door for us to genuinely discover and experience God's blessing in our lives." 9. "I want to invite you to understand that God's invitation to be wise stewards of the life that he has given us is not to be perfect. It's not to be sinless, but it's to become faithful and resilient in keeping after the things that we know God has revealed make for genuine, happy, satisfied human life." (

10. "And that all comes through trusting in who God says he is and believing that he will do what he said he's going to do. And so I want to leave you with the words of Proverbs 3 again, trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways, submit to him and he will make your paths straight." (
