When we say that we want to learn about God, what we're saying we want to learn about is we believe that the Bible is God's revelation of who he is. And therefore, as we study the Bible, the point of studying the Bible is not just so that we can say we study the Bible or know what it says. It's so that we understand who God is. [00:25:15] (16 seconds)

The worst sermons I've ever heard have been the ones that they took a verse, they took a Greek word, they took a Hebrew word, they took an English word, and they wrote, they talked about it for 45 minutes and had no idea what those words actually meant. [00:31:13] (15 seconds)

The destruction of the temple is simply the physical symbol that illustrates what God had already done spiritually. Just like when he cursed the fig tree, Jesus first cursed the fig tree. It wasn't about figs, and it wasn't about the tree. It was about Israel. It was about the religious system. In the same way, the destruction of the temple is simply what has already occurred spiritually, the coming of the kingdom, the arrival of Jesus Christ. [00:48:49] (34 seconds)

The destruction of the temple, that has now shifted. And now the human heart is first transformed, and out of the transformation becomes new behavior. So the reason I worship God is because God has changed my heart. He has saved me. He has made me new. [00:54:37] (25 seconds)

And the destruction of the temple symbolizes that Christianity is about your heart. And whether or not Jesus Christ has given you a new heart, and you can only receive that new heart when you repent of your sins, and you turn to him, and in faith, you receive the gift of salvation. [01:00:13] (20 seconds)

You see, when you cultivate issues of the heart, you begin to understand that you are the temple of God, which means that no matter what you face tomorrow, God's Spirit is with you and will never leave you. No matter what the challenge is that you don't know how you're going to get through, the anxiety or the worry or the stress, no matter what it is in your life, this thing that you're not sure you can make it or whether or not you're in the face of temptation or relational conflict, the Spirit of God dwells in you. [01:06:37] (31 seconds)
