Transformative Power of Praise in Worship
Summary
As we embark on a new year, it's essential to revisit the powerful habit of praise. Praise is not just a ritual; it's a transformative practice that can uplift our spirits, help us sense God's presence, and reveal solutions to our problems. Praise is a spiritual discipline that we need to engage in daily, especially during tough times. It is a way to express our gratitude and thanks to God, acknowledging that everything we have is because of Him. Worship is not about us; it's about God. When we praise, we align our hearts with God's truth, and in doing so, we experience His presence more profoundly.
True worship, as Jesus taught, is in spirit and truth. It requires authenticity and sincerity, not just going through the motions. God desires passionate worship, not lukewarm rituals. When we engage in genuine praise, we magnify God, making Him bigger in our eyes, which in turn makes our problems seem smaller. Praise also helps us remember God's blessings, correcting the imbalance in our lives when we focus too much on our problems.
Moreover, praising God in advance is an act of faith. It enlists God's protection and breaks chains, opening doors of opportunity. When we thank God before He answers our prayers, we demonstrate trust in His promises. This kind of faith can lead to miraculous outcomes, as seen in the story of Jehoshaphat, where praise led to victory without a fight.
As we practice praise, we should make it a habit to attend worship regularly, allowing it to recharge and energize us. Praise should be our natural response to every situation, good or bad. By doing so, we invite God's presence and power into our lives, enabling us to face the challenges of the new year with hope and confidence.

Day 1: The Heart of True Worship
True worship is not about external rituals but about engaging with God in spirit and truth. It requires sincerity and authenticity, moving beyond mere actions to a heartfelt connection with the divine. When individuals worship passionately, they align their hearts with God's truth, experiencing His presence more profoundly. This alignment transforms worship from a routine into a powerful encounter with God, where His presence becomes tangible and life-changing. Worship is not for personal gain but to honor God, acknowledging His greatness and sovereignty. [03:02]
John 4:23-24 (ESV): "But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him. God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth."
Reflection: In what ways can you ensure your worship is genuine and heartfelt, rather than just a routine? How can you prepare your heart to encounter God more deeply in your daily worship?
Day 2: Seeing God Bigger Than Our Problems
Praise has the power to magnify God, making Him appear larger in our eyes and consequently making our problems seem smaller. When individuals focus on God's greatness, their worries diminish, and they gain a clearer perspective on their challenges. This shift in focus allows them to see their circumstances through the lens of God's power and sovereignty, rather than being overwhelmed by their difficulties. By praising God, they invite His presence into their lives, which brings peace and clarity amidst life's challenges. [30:10]
Psalm 34:3-4 (ESV): "Oh, magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together! I sought the Lord, and he answered me and delivered me from all my fears."
Reflection: What is one problem you are currently facing that seems overwhelming? How can you shift your focus to God's greatness and allow His perspective to change how you view this problem?
Day 3: Praise as a Gateway to Divine Solutions
When faced with seemingly unsolvable problems, praise can open the door to divine solutions that are not visible through human effort alone. By entering God's presence with thanksgiving, individuals open themselves to His creativity and insight, which can reveal answers and paths they had not considered. This practice of praise shifts the focus from the problem to the problem-solver, allowing God's wisdom to illuminate the way forward. It is a reminder that God's ways are higher than human ways, and His solutions are often beyond human understanding. [34:46]
Isaiah 55:8-9 (ESV): "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts."
Reflection: Think of a challenge you are currently facing. How can you incorporate praise into your approach to this challenge, inviting God's wisdom and creativity to reveal a solution?
Day 4: Trusting God Through Praise Before Answers
Praising God before receiving answers to prayers is an act of faith that demonstrates trust in His promises. This proactive gratitude enlists God's protection and intervention, often leading to miraculous outcomes. By thanking God in advance, individuals express confidence in His faithfulness and sovereignty, even when the outcome is uncertain. This kind of faith is exemplified in biblical stories where praise led to victory and breakthrough, showing that trust in God can lead to unexpected and divine results. [49:37]
2 Chronicles 20:21-22 (ESV): "And when he had taken counsel with the people, he appointed those who were to sing to the Lord and praise him in holy attire, as they went before the army, and say, 'Give thanks to the Lord, for his steadfast love endures forever.' And when they began to sing and praise, the Lord set an ambush against the men of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah, so that they were routed."
Reflection: What is one prayer you are waiting for God to answer? How can you begin to praise Him for the answer, trusting in His timing and faithfulness?
Day 5: Freedom and Breakthrough Through Praise
Praise has the power to break chains and open doors, freeing individuals from situations that hold them back. When people feel stuck or trapped, praising God can lead to breakthroughs and new opportunities. This act of worship invites God's power into their circumstances, breaking the bonds that limit them and opening paths to freedom and growth. It is a reminder that God's presence brings liberation and that praise is a powerful tool for overcoming obstacles and experiencing His transformative power. [58:07]
Acts 16:25-26 (ESV): "About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them, and suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken. And immediately all the doors were opened, and everyone's bonds were unfastened."
Reflection: In what area of your life do you feel stuck or limited? How can you use praise as a tool to invite God's power and experience freedom and breakthrough in this area?
Quotes
True worshipers worship the Father in spirit and in truth. Circle spirit and truth in spirit and truth. That's the kind of worshipers the Father seeks now. What does that mean to worship God in spirit and truth? Now spirit does it's not a capital S so it's not talking about the Holy Spirit. [00:02:49]
God really hates it. What God hates more than anything else is lukewarm worship, where we go through the motions, we sing the songs, we say the prayers, we do the right thing, but we're not even thinking about it. We're just going through the routine, the ritual without even thinking about God. [00:03:54]
Worship isn't for you anyway. Worship is for God. When we come to worship, we're expressing our thanks, our gratitude, our praise to God. Worship is not about you. Now, anytime you do anything that God wants you to do, God always builds benefits into it that will bless you. [00:06:37]
Praising God lifts my spirit. That's the first thing it does. Praising God lifts my spirit. If I came to church today tired, exhausted, discouraged, fatigued, praise is a mood enhancer. In fact, praise, particularly with other people, worship with others, is an energizer. [00:18:13]
Praise takes your focus off of the problems around and puts your focus back on God. Recently, there was a cover of Businessweek magazine, and the cover of Businessweek magazine said, "Searching for Hope." So that's what the world's looking for right now. This is not a Christian magazine. [00:19:44]
Praising God helps me sense His presence. Praising God helps me sense God's presence. Now notice I said sense because God is always present with you, whether you feel it or not. God is always with you. There's never been one second of your life that God was not with you. [00:24:17]
Praising God enlarges my perception of Him. Praising God makes God bigger in my eyes. Praising God enlarges my perception of Him, and I'll explain why that's a big deal in just a minute. But in Psalm 69 verse 30, it says this, I will praise the name of the Lord. [00:30:10]
Praising God reveals solutions I can't see. Praising God is the way you see things that you can't see any other way. It reveals solutions to problems you have in your life. You know that you have things that you just can't figure out. They're like the Gordian knot. [00:34:46]
Praising God helps me remember His blessing. Now I'm going to explain why this is really important in just a minute, but praising God helps you remember the blessings of God. Why? Have you noticed that when you're going through a tough time, and you may be going through one right now? [00:41:00]
Praising God enlists God's protection. God starts fighting your battles if you praise Him in advance. Now I'm not talking about after the fact. The timing of your praise determines what it is. Follow me on this. If I thank God after He answers a prayer, that's called gratitude. [00:49:37]
Praising God breaks chains and opens doors. Praising God breaks chains in your life, things that are holding you back, and opens doors for opportunity that you can't seem to bust through. When you feel like you're stuck, and many of you right now feel psycho, you know what? [00:58:07]
Make the habit of praise your natural response to everything you face, good or bad. I'm going to thank God. I'm going to praise God in this situation. Develop that habit and watch what happens. Watch all these benefits, and there are many others we didn't cover. [01:02:24]
