Every child is looking for hope. Every child wants to know what their tomorrow could look like, might look like, should look like. Everywhere you go, you see this crisis of identity, poverty, crime, instability, and chaos. But you create hope, you give them a bigger picture of a future and a tomorrow worth fighting for and worth achieving. [00:00:23]

I grew up in a single-parent home just raised by my mother. There was seven of us. My father was never in my life. I was smiling on the outside, but I was still empty. [00:00:59]

When I met Margaret at school, I became involved with Margaret when I walked into a classroom to talk with a teacher about another student and noticed her kind of in a slump position, head lowered. And then after that, the Lord led me to mentor to her directly, one-on-one. [00:01:09]

Coming from just a broken spirit, you know, she was just broken on the inside and just had a lot that she was dealing with from her childhood. But now, to see Margaret now, it's the beauty from ashes. God has taken the good, the bad, and the ugly and He has just restored her. [00:01:42]

Having Denise in my life, it just meant a lot to me. It was like she just put everything that she was working on on hold, and she was like, "Okay, let me make sure you're okay." Just to have her there for all the big things in my life is just awesome, and I just know she'll be there for everything else. [00:02:15]

I run track here, and back in December I was number three in the nation, and I also received the title of Big East Athlete of the Week. After school, I want to pursue a career in school social work. I do believe that there are other children out there, you know, who've gone through the same thing and they just, you know, they've given up, but I want to be able to instill hope in them. [00:02:29]

God met Margaret in a very difficult place, and I saw this girl become a young lady, beautiful, talented, skilled, now a college graduate. And to see this life transformation, this life excitement, this beautiful magnificent lady come out of this impact lets me know that this is the answer to what our communities need, what our children need, with our families need through the National Church Adopt a School Initiative.
