1. "We have many things to be thankful for. And I want to show you two of my most cherished possessions. Enclosed in these eight and a half by 11 inexpensive frames are two documents that I will hold tightly to on very difficult days. They're expressions of gratitude. On my 50th birthday, my daughters each wrote 50 things that they appreciated about me being their dad." [01:00] (24 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)

2. "They are signs to me that I need to hear the constant, consistent voice of God that's grounded in his grace over me, rather than the temporary and very tepid voices that are based on my isolated performance." [01:45] (17 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)

3. "First of all, what are the obstacles between us and our gratitude? To Jesus and to others? Zacchaeus overcame his own height challenges, as well as the obstacles of his reputation. To deal with his height, he climbed into a tree, and he also overcame his own reputation in his own community." [04:10] (20 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)

4. "We're a busy people, and yet we use our busyness as an excuse that deters our ability to show gratitude. We don't spend time in prayer thanking God for all that he has provided us. We rush, and we rush, and we rush, and we rush, and we rush, and we rush, to the next thing in our schedule, rather than pausing to express our gratitude for something that someone has done for us." 5. "Are we more concerned about people's opinions than our own expression of gratitude? Are we afraid to express our gratitude to God and others because it might make us look like a people pleaser or somewhat less impressive to others? Do you worry about your postures in worship because of what others might think?" [06:30] (25 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)

6. "I have never regretted anything I have ever said to anyone when I was expressing gratitude. Now, I can't say that about a lot of the things, of other things that I might have said or regretted saying. But as I look back, I cherish every single time that I thanked my mom and dad, a former teacher or mentor, to Jennifer or my daughters or sons-in-law, our staff or a friend." 7. "The depth of our gratitude is reflected in the measure of my personal sacrifice. As we look at Zacchaeus's action, what we see is that this is evidence of the transformation through his encounter with Jesus. He is radically reorienting his behavior as it relates specifically to his finances and his life." [08:35] (22 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)

8. "Our gratitude is a living example of the message that Jesus wants to give to the world and they are watching us because we have a relationship with Christ. Gratitude will be a distinguishing characteristic to the world around us and will continue to draw others into their own individual encounter with Jesus."
