They continued steadfastly in the apostles' Doctrine and fellowship and in Breaking of bread and in prayers now here's the first thing you see that happens when people are truly Christian and when they're born again they always come together I want to emphasize certain words here you notice they continued steadfastly. [00:02:12]

These people came together and met as the church not as a matter not as a matter of Duty not because they were pressed to do so not because some ministers had constantly to round them up and to tell them that they hadn't been recently and that they ought to come and that they were not playing fair by the church. [00:03:12]

They continued steadfastly they did so gladly they did so willingly they rushed to be together that's the whole impression that one is given and they couldn't be together too frequently or too often it is quite clear that this became the big thing and the central thing and the controlling thing in their lives. [00:03:51]

The problem was not to get them together it's quite clear from any of these records the problem was to get them home they wanted to be together the whole of the time it hits you the moment you read this and as you go on with the book of The Acts of the Apostles you get exactly the same impression. [00:04:24]

They did so because they couldn't help doing so it was because of what had happened to them it was because of the life that was in them here they are coming together as soon as they could always having done their work and so on they gather together in this way steadfastly daily continually. [00:06:06]

They've seen through the thing as John puts it in his epistle letter this is the victory that overcometh the world even our faith it's faith that enables you to see the true nature of the world and what's awaiting it and the danger of all who belong to it so these people you see live under on a profound change. [00:07:47]

The Christian doesn't see the things in this world like the non-Christian does he doesn't see it sin its public houses he doesn't see its televisions he doesn't see anything in the same way as the non-Christian he's got a new outlook now he doesn't have to persuade himself of this he knows that this has happened to him. [00:08:24]

They met together because they got the same Outlook people of the same Outlook get together they like to share experiences and to talk about these things so they'd got the same Outlook and they' had the same experience they' got the same desires they' got the same hopes and the same Outlook. [00:11:00]

What brought these people together was something purely spiritual and here it is for us in one great verse this 42nd verse they continued steadfastly in the apostles teaching doctr and fellowship and breaking of bread and prayer what's gone wrong with us my friends what's gone wrong with us. [00:18:08]

The thing that is always at the beginning is the doctrine is the teaching why well it's astonishing to me that anybody could ever miss this because it's inevitable here where people you see filled with the Holy Spirit but the holy spirit is the spirit of Truth that's what he's called he is the holy spirit of Truth. [00:22:08]

Christianity is an experience that results from a particular teaching therefore it is vital I say that was we must be clear about this teaching not only that the Bible teaches us that there are many kinds of spirits in the world why do we call the Holy Spirit the Holy Spirit the answer is that we may contrast him with evil spirits. [00:24:42]

The truth Christian always wants teaching you see as I'm saying these things we are testing ourselves aren't we do you want teaching my friends or do you want entertainment do you want to be near to think do you want to follow the mighty reason and argument and logic of these new testament Epistles.
