We all have a sinful past or present. I said, we all have a sinful past or present. When you read Acts chapter 9, we are introduced to Saul. And when you read that opening verse, it says these words. It says that Saul was breathing murderous threats against the Lord's disciples. What's interesting is that this is not the first time the book of Acts brings up Saul's name. As a matter of fact, there are three other times that Saul's name is mentioned. [00:08:30] (33 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)

Saul has a plan to persecute the church, but because the church is the Lord's disciples, we are always in the hands of God. No matter what people may plan, because you're in his hands, you have nothing to worry about. You don't have to be stressed. You don't have to be pressed. You don't have to be stressed. You don't have to be stressed. You don't have to be concerned. You can go to sleep at night. Why? Because the text says you are the Lord's disciples. You belong to him. Until you get to a place of brokenness, until you get to the end of your rope, until you get to the end of yourself, until you get to the end of your pride, until you get to the end of having to have everything your way, until you get to the end of having all the answers, and can't nobody tell you nothing, until you get to the end of yourself, and a place of brokenness. Brokenness is the only place, place where God's seeds of faith can take root and grow in your life. [00:22:16] (32 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)

He says, Ananias, go, and then he gives a glimpse of the purpose of Saul's life. He says, Saul is my chosen instrument. He is my instrument. I chose him. He says, I know Saul has a past, but I want to use that past to help him to do this work I've called him to. He's going to be my instrument. That word proclaim means to bear witness. He says, he is going to bear witness about Jesus, and not just to one group, but to all the groups. [00:32:51] (33 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)

I'm so glad God didn't give up on Saul because if he had given up on Saul, we might not have Galatians. I'm so glad he didn't give up on Saul. Because if he had given up on Saul, we might not have 1 and 2 Thessalonians. I'm so glad he didn't give up on Saul because if he had given up on Saul, we might not have 1 and 2 Corinthians. I'm so glad he didn't give up on Saul because if he had given up on Saul, we might not have Romans. [00:38:18] (30 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)

God can take a nobody and make him somebody. God can take anybody and use them to his glory and honor and grace. You are a living testimony of what the Lord can do. If people saw you through the scenes of your life, you would be the least likely. You would be the least likely to succeed. But by the grace of God, he's done a work in your life that nobody can get credit for but the Lord. [00:42:21] (32 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)
