Genie found herself in a state of depression, questioning the very foundation of her faith. It was through the intervention of a friend, Anna, that she began to see a glimmer of hope. Anna reminded her that Jesus Christ is unchanging, and that He would be waiting for her to return to Him. [00:04:49]

Genie stopped complaining and tried to cope with her life a little better, but nothing really changed in her situation. She set up a prayer time every afternoon and used every prayer technique she could to batter God, telling Him that He had to do something about her problem. [00:05:27]

She realized later that every little bit of the word of God that she was reading during those times was a drop into her subconscious mind, and it stayed there and became a usable part of her, even though she didn't seem to understand it with her conscious mind. [00:07:13]

The Holy Spirit began to lead her through the scriptures to one surprising verse after another, including some references that she could not have found otherwise without her concordance. These were scriptures that she would not have known the reference off hand. [00:09:59]

She writes the entire chapter of John 14 seemed to be there just for her at that moment. She had read it many times before, but Jesus was real in a new way, and she seemed to be aware that He Himself was saying to her, "I will come to you." [00:13:11]

She realized that she needed to yield her new self to God. She thought she had done this when she was born again, but she only then realized that she needed to yield her new self to God. There had to be a continual newness, or it would be old again. [00:17:39]

Her need was so great that she made a simple decision on the basis of the Redemption of Christ. She was specific about areas that only God and her knew, and she surrendered them to Him. Then she kept on flipping the pages and came to a verse in the Psalms. [00:19:18]

She found herself saying, "Oh yes, you Lord Jesus, you are who I have and who I desire." Suddenly she understood the simplicity of God's word because before that, it had all been like a haze and complicated. [00:20:04]

In Jesus Christ Himself was everything I needed for everything in my life. Let me say that again: in Jesus Christ is everything I need for everything in my life. As a result, many things became new in her life. [00:22:01]

Her testimony became more about the Savior than about her salvation. That is a wonderful thought too. When people ask you for your testimony, are you more excited to tell them about the Savior, or do you want to tell them about your salvation? [00:22:56]

She writes, "My need is the most glorious possession I have, second to Jesus Himself." His love is so much greater and so much more recreative than we can possibly imagine, and we experience it when we stop resisting Him. [00:25:48]

Victory is somebody, not something. Victory is somebody; it's the person of Jesus, not something that awareness and assurance did not come instantly and automatically to her but was learned in the daily walk and talk with Christ. [00:27:17]
