When we feel overwhelmed by life's burdens and hardships, it is easy to believe that we are alone and powerless. Yet, God promises to give power to the weak and to increase the strength of those who have no might. Those who wait on the Lord will have their strength renewed, able to endure and even thrive through trials. Rather than asking God to remove our struggles, we are invited to ask Him to renew our strength, trusting that He is with us and will empower us to carry on, no matter how heavy the load may seem. [51:04]
Isaiah 40:29-31 (ESV)
He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength. Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.
Reflection: What is one burden you are carrying today that feels too heavy? Can you ask God right now to renew your strength and help you trust Him with it instead of trying to carry it all alone?
Our hearts and minds are like cups that we fill each day—either with love, gratitude, and kindness, or with anger, envy, and bitterness. When life "bumps" into us through challenges or difficult people, whatever we have stored inside will spill out. If we fill ourselves with God's goodness, His Word, and His love, then even in the face of adversity, what overflows from us will be grace and compassion. But if we harbor negativity, that too will come out. Each day, we are called to cleanse our hearts and ask God to fill us anew, so that what overflows is always good. [10:42]
Luke 6:45 (ESV)
The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces evil; for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.
Reflection: Tonight before you sleep, take a moment to examine your heart—what have you been filling it with today? Will you ask God to cleanse and fill you with His goodness so that only what is good will overflow from you tomorrow?
There are seasons when the burdens we carry—whether sickness, financial struggles, or broken relationships—feel unbearable. Yet, when we see the value in what we carry and when we carry it with love and faith, the weight becomes lighter. Like the friends who brought the paralytic to Jesus, their love and faith made the heavy task possible and even joyful. Faith assures us that God is with us, and that He will help us bear what we cannot carry alone, transforming our suffering into something meaningful and even redemptive. [21:37]
Mark 2:3-5 (ESV)
And they came, bringing to him a paralytic carried by four men. And when they could not get near him because of the crowd, they removed the roof above him, and when they had made an opening, they let down the bed on which the paralytic lay. And when Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, “Son, your sins are forgiven.”
Reflection: Think of a burden you are carrying for someone you love. How might your faith and love for them help you see this burden differently, and can you ask God to help you carry it with hope?
Many of us become discouraged or even depressed because we cannot accept that bad things will happen in life, no matter how hard we try to do good. Jesus teaches us to expect setbacks, disappointments, and even failures as part of the journey. When we accept that not everything we plant will bear fruit, and that suffering is inevitable, we become more resilient and at peace. This acceptance frees us from bitterness and helps us to keep moving forward, trusting that God still has good soil and a harvest prepared for us, even after many losses. [35:32]
John 16:33 (ESV)
I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.
Reflection: Is there a disappointment or setback you are struggling to accept? How might embracing the reality that suffering is part of life help you find peace and keep moving forward in hope?
Sometimes, when we are tired or discouraged, we may feel like giving up on doing good or fulfilling our responsibilities. But God reminds us that our faithfulness is not just for ourselves—there are people who are depending on us, whether we realize it or not. Our perseverance in doing what is right, even when it is hard, can be the very thing that brings hope, change, or even salvation to others. Like Jonah, whose obedience saved a city, or Jesus, who never gave up His mission despite opposition, we are called to continue our mission because someone is waiting for the blessing God will bring through us. [01:04:54]
Galatians 6:9 (ESV)
And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.
Reflection: Who in your life might be depending on your faithfulness, kindness, or perseverance today? What is one good thing you can do for them, even if you feel tired or discouraged?
