Before engaging in any spiritual battle, one must be securely anchored. This grounding comes from a consistent and devoted life in Scripture and in conversation with God. It is through His written word that we receive our instructions and through prayer that we align our will with His. Without this firm foundation, we are easily tossed about and become an easy target for the enemy’s schemes. Being rooted in truth allows us to discern the subtle lies and stand firm. [10:26]
All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.
2 Timothy 3:16-17 (ESV)
Reflection: As you consider the pace of your life, what specific, practical step could you take this week to create more consistent space for reading God’s Word and listening in prayer?
A powerful testimony can be rendered useless if the messenger is easily discredited. Living a life of integrity, dignity, and sound speech protects your witness from the enemy’s attempts to unravel it. This does not mean achieving perfection, but rather striving for a consistency of character that leaves no obvious "loose threads" for opponents to pull. It is about conducting yourself in a manner that, even under scrutiny, brings honor to God and leaves critics with nothing of substance to attack. [18:19]
Show yourself in all respects to be a model of good works, and in your teaching show integrity, dignity, and sound speech that cannot be condemned, so that an opponent may be put to shame, having nothing evil to say about us.
Titus 2:7-8 (ESV)
Reflection: Is there any area of your life—a habit, a relationship, or a pattern of speech—that, if brought to light, would undermine your ability to speak truth into someone’s life?
God has uniquely equipped each believer with spiritual gifts and a specific calling for His purpose. The enemy often uses fear, doubt, and comparison to keep us from stepping fully into this role, preferring we remain contained and ineffective. True effectiveness and threat to the enemy come not from pursuing the most glamorous cause, but from faithfully operating in the place and gifting God has appointed for you, trusting that He has prepared you for it. [27:39]
For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them.
Romans 12:4-6 (ESV)
Reflection: What is one practical way you can actively use the spiritual gift God has given you this week, rather than letting it remain idle or comparing it to others’?
The battle for truth is not meant to be fought by one generation alone. A critical part of being a threat to the enemy is ensuring the fight continues by intentionally investing in those who will come after us. This means actively teaching, modeling, and sharing our faith with the next generation in the everyday moments of life, so that they may know the Lord and carry the truth forward. [34:19]
You shall teach them to your children, talking of them when you are sitting in your house, and when you are walking by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.
Deuteronomy 11:19 (ESV)
Reflection: Who is one person in your sphere of influence—a child, a younger believer, or a seeking friend—that you can intentionally invest in or share your faith with this week?
It is easy to become consumed by a multitude of good causes and activities, leaving us busy but not necessarily effective for God’s kingdom. The call is to shift from a life of striving to a life of surrendered focus, trusting God to direct our paths. This involves acknowledging Him in all our ways and ensuring that our actions, however good, are ultimately under His command and for His glory, not our own. [38:33]
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.
Proverbs 3:5-6 (ESV)
Reflection: Looking at your current commitments and activities, which one might be a "good thing" that has unintentionally become a primary thing, distracting you from God’s best for this season?
The reality of a spiritual enemy explains the intensity behind cultural and political turmoil. Ephesians 6:12 frames current conflicts as a battle against rulers, authorities, and spiritual forces, not merely flesh-and-blood opponents. Grounding in Scripture, persistent prayer, and the filling of the Holy Spirit constitute the essential training and orders for soldiers in that fight. A firm foundation in God’s Word equips believers to discern small deviations from truth and resist being tossed about by shifting news cycles and persuasive lies.
Faithfulness in ordinary seasons counts more than flashy activism; David’s time tending sheep prepared him to confront a giant with confidence in God rather than in personal strength. Living above reproach strengthens testimony: integrity, dignity, and sound speech remove the enemy’s ammunition to discredit the messenger and undermine truth. Examples from Daniel and modern ministries show that faithful conduct often opens doors for God’s power to be displayed, even amid persecution.
Walking in distinct calling and using God-given gifts turns individual faith into an offensive force. Containment—fear, doubt, comparison, and misallocated zeal—represents the enemy’s subtle strategy to moderate and confine faith so it never breaks through. When believers step into their specific callings and deploy their gifts in unity, the body becomes a multiplied threat to evil.
Intentional discipleship prevents spiritual loss between generations. Failure to equip the next generation repeats the cycle of compromise described in Judges: present victories fade when leaders neglect teaching heirs to know the Lord. Practical obedience—teaching Scripture regularly, modeling godly living, and inviting children and others into active service—multiplies impact across seasons.
Finally, authentic enlistment requires full surrender to Jesus as Lord. Enlistment does not come through cultural religion or busyness but through a repentant heart that makes Christ Lord and receives the Spirit. Focused faith, not mere activity, produces faithful, dangerous followers whose lives and witness genuinely threaten the enemy’s plans.
I don't wanna just be busy. I wanna be effective. I wanna be faithful. I wanna be dangerous to the enemy. How about you? My prayer for you is the same. That you would press into the his will for your life, that you would seek a full measure of the gifts he's given you, and that you would walk in a clear calling, not distracted, not divided, not contained, not compromised, but fully in back engaged in the battle He's called you to. Don't just be busy. Be dangerous.

But this message is not about how we got here. It's about where we go. Do you want to be a threat to the enemy? Do you want to be dangerous? I think most of you do. And I get asked a lot by whether it was while I was running for office or involved in, you know, a variety of things. I get asked a lot, what can I do? Where can I make the most impact? People want to do things, but they also want to make an impact.

Before we can fight effectively, we must be grounded securely. Are you in the word first? Are you talking to him? Are you praying daily to hear his will? How will you know what you're doing is in his will or you're on the right path if you're not talking to him or reading his word. He's given us his written word and he's given us the holy spirit as a helper. His written word for instruction and the holy spirit as a helper.

A compromised life cannot confront a corrupt world. You have to be coming from a place that there is nothing they can pick against. Now, living above reproach, it does not mean being perfect. It does not mean earning your salvation through works you're striving. And it does not mean conforming to the world's definition of what love is or what a Christian should be so that we are admired and loved by the world.

He measured up his god against the giant and saw victory easily. But David did not become a threat to the enemy on the battlefield. He became a threat in the pasture, in the preparation. So if we're gonna be a threat to the enemy, it starts with a firm foundation, but it doesn't stop there. I think the next thing that leaves us, that makes us a threat is living a life above reproach.

You can stay busy very easily, but God isn't asking us to be busy. He's calling us to be focused, faithful, and ready. Amen. You know, Mike's done a great series leading up to this on the space in between and finding a calling and and and leaning in and preparing yourself from that time. In Proverbs three, five, and six, it says, trust in the lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways, acknowledge him and he will make straight your paths.

But before we can be a threat to the enemy, before we can walk in a calling, before we can live this life we're talking about, we have to answer one question. Have we truly surrendered our lives to Jesus? You cannot enlist you cannot fight in bad in a battle you haven't enlisted in. Maybe you've been around church. Maybe you believe in God. Maybe you've tried to be a good person. But you've never fully surrendered your life to him. Today can be that moment. It's not religion. It's not striving, but surrender.

I'm gonna tell you that a unified body of believers that is aware and active in their calling and gifts is an immense threat to the enemy. One of us is a threat. A body of us, a church, all in this is an immense threat to the enemy. They're doing everything they can to keep that from happening. And that brings me to the to the last point. Not to spend a ton of time on here, but possibly, it's just as important, if not more important, is discipling and equipping the next generation.
