#LayItAtTheCross
“Jesus hears us in a loving and clear way. He tells us, take all our concerns, all our excuses, and all our fears, and all those things that keep us from connecting to people who are different. And he says, place them all at the foot of the cross. Because at the cross, he destroyed every hostility between Jew and Gentile. He made friends of enemies at the cross. Real connection requires that we remember what we once were. Don't don't don't get the big head. Now that you're saved, real connection is centered on Jesus. It's about who he is and what he has done.”

#RememberWhereYouCameFrom
“Paul says, remember who you once were. Yes. He says, before you begin feeling superior, you better remember. Before you start deciding who deserves a seat at the table, you better remember. Before you begin looking down on somebody else, you better remember. He says, remember who you were. Remember where you were. Remember the condition of your life and your heart when God found you. Amen. He says, as you remember what you were like, you you become more willing to make room at the table for somebody else. As as you remember what God had to do in order to get you together, you become more willing to welcome somebody that that still needs a little little polishing on the outside.”

#CommunityIsBuilt
“Friends, hear me. Write this down if you're taking notes. Christian community is not found. Christian community is built. If you want it, if you need it, don't sit back and wait for somebody else to fix it. Help us build the kind of connection that we also desperately need. And I can say we we want this together because this is not new teaching. Friends, you've heard this before. Intellectually, we've all thought at one time or another that connection is really important. The difficulty for us, church, is that it's hard to move from an idea to some sort of lived reality, and it doesn't happen by accident.”

#JesusBreaksBarriers
“``Jesus destroyed the law and the dividing wall of hostility between Jew and Gentile. That's what Jesus did. He he confused all the traditional rules about who was in and who was out. That's what Jesus did. He he he messed up our understanding of who was clean and who was unclean. Jesus did that. Jesus, he gave a new definition of what it mean to sit at the table with deserving people. You see, he sat down at tables with all the wrong people. Thieves, prostitutes, poor folks, the sick, the hurting. My friend Joe Saxon calls it the last, the lost, the least, and the lonely. Jesus took table with those folks when the religious folks of the day were pushing those people to the margins. That's what Jesus did.”
