#AccurateScripture
“``Notice the last phrase, accurately handling the word of truth. That literally means cutting it straight. When you accurately handle scripture, you're cutting it straight. And the idea of the term it evokes cutting a straight road or plowing a straight furrow or cutting something in a true line. That means you must handle the word in a straight, in a correct, in an honest way, giving its proper meaning and application. If you don't do that, no one's gonna understand scripture. No one is gonna apply it correctly to their life. They're gonna end up misapplying it, misinterpreting it, and it just turns into legalism.”

#WordFilledLife
“In other words, it's the same thing. When we're talking about being filled with the spirit, we're talking about letting the word of Christ dwell in you richly, we're talking about the same thing because the results are the same. So to be filled with the spirit literally means to be controlled by God's word. So you can see how important it is to read it carefully, to interpret it accurately, to spend unhurried time in it, so that you have that deep love for God. But if you're rushing through it, then that's gonna hinder everything.”

#ReadExplainApply
“Every believers to be anchored in these three enduring practices where scripture is read, scripture is applied, and scripture is explained. So it's like read the text, explain the text, and apply the text. That's essentially what expository preaching is. It's seeking to get to the meaning of scripture. See in a culture of religious confusion and false teaching answer is not less Bible, but more Bible. To where you've read it, you're pressing it to the heart, and it's being taught with clarity.”

#OpenEyesToTruth
“We should be asking God to open our eyes to his word, so that we can see what we need to see. Do you remember when Joseph was called before pharaoh to interpret the dreams he was having? Well, if you remember that, it was Joseph who said, God will give Pharaoh an interpretation of his dreams. You gotta keep that in mind. You you can do it all right, and go through all the process, and you can have, like I said, all the helps, and but it is important that you realize that your understanding is not gonna happen apart from God.”
