1. "The words of a gossip are like choice morsels. They go down to the inmost parts. So let's go ahead. We'll put that word cloud back up there, if we could do that for a minute while you're continuing to add those words. The words of, and it's, not just the words of a gossip that go down to the inmost parts, is it? It's all the kinds of words that we hear, whether they're positive or negative."

2. "Think about that for a moment. You can multiply your impact, and you might think there's different things you need to do and have success and accomplishments and all these kinds of resources, but you have the capability right now to multiply your impact simply by monitoring your words, paying attention to them. We're surrounded by words all day, aren't we? We're bombarded with messages and advertisements and all kinds of things that we maybe don't even want."

3. "The impact of words, they have the power of life and death. Your voice, and your written words equally, are the most powerful ways that you can impact the world. It's as though we're kind of stumbling through life, and we hold this tremendous power. The power of life and death. With our words, we can either cause extreme damage, or we can provide life-giving resources."

4. "When we monitor our words, we can multiply our impact. How many times have our words crushed someone's spirit? Listen to this in Proverbs 15, 4, a soothing tongue is a tree of life, but a perverse tongue crushes the spirit. Some of you sitting here, some of you watching online, you're in that space right now. Your spirit feels crushed, and dark, and hopeless because of the words that have been spoken."

Think of your words as the colors of the different paint on the palette, and with every word that you speak or you type, you're painting the picture not just of now, but of the future, because your words have the power to actually change what happens. Not just for you, but for others. Think about this. God created the universe by speaking."

6. "Your words have incredible power. You are painting the future with your words. The reverse is also true, by the way, and this is the good news, right? Focusing on positive words will decrease anxiety and depression and negative thoughts. In fact, this is what the research is showing, that when you're doing physical exercise or exertion, like running or lifting, things like this, that your ability to do that will be affected by the power of your words. By the words that you think, and even more so by the words that you speak."

7. "When you monitor your words and you start paying attention and add some, like, positive, optimistic thinking into what's going on in your mind, you're changing the words that you're saying to yourself. It can actually even add years to your life. Gracious words. Let me give you some examples. We'll put these up on the screen here if we can. Here's some examples of gracious words that you could speak to others or to yourself. Tell me more. What's your story? I'm sorry."

8. "And understand, you can have hard, difficult conversations that are true and helpful and inspiring and necessary and kind. It comes down to are we monitoring our words? Think before you speak. James says, you know, hey, rein in the tongue. It's possible for us to do that. We're never going to be perfect at it. I'm not."

9. "So if there's stuff coming out of my mouth, and it doesn't look true and helpful and inspiring and necessary and kind, it might be because there's stuff going on in here that needs healing. It needs to be restored. It's possible, right, as James says about religion that's worthless, it's possible to deceive yourself and say everything's fine in here when really it's not."

10. "When Jesus' truth, when his words start to take root in your life, it begins to change your heart. It begins to transform you. And then with a transformed heart, what does Jesus say? Out of the overflow of the heart, the mouth speaks. And so the words that come out of you are being changed from the inside by letting Jesus' words impact you. Your words will start to paint a different kind of future for yourself, for others."
