Sermon Clips

1. "We have got to pray, not just to make it to the day, but sometimes to make it through the hour. And has anybody ever been in a moment where you just needed to pray to make it through the minute? Prayer is essential to us as believers. It is integral to our lives. It's how we connect with God. We pray not just to make it through the day, but we pray because prayer changes our lives. We pray because prayer changes our things. We pray because prayer has power." [03:30] (27 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)

2. "The power of prayer is about our perspective of God. So often we come to God and we act like we're Christina Aguilera and he's a genie in a bottle. And if we rub him the right way by saying the right words and making the right promises, that maybe he'll do something. But God ain't no genie in a bottle. He is God. He is the Lord all powerful. When we come to God with the proper faith, we're recognizing that the power of prayer comes from the all powerful God." [07:44] (30 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)

3. "The power of prayer is in our perspective of God and knowing who he is and calling him that. You've got to get to know who you're talking to. He's not some mystical Disney magical character. He's God. He's real. He's present. He loves you. And prayer is our way of getting to connect with our good, good father." [11:02] (26 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)

4. "Repentance is a beautiful thing. Repentance is a gift. Repentance simply means change. Changing the way that we think about sin. It's not changing the behavior. The behavior change is the outcome of repentance. But repentance is recognizing that I am doing, or I have done something that does not align with God's word. And because I want to be like Jesus, because I want to be all that God has called me to be. I'm going to change the way that I think about this thing and then change my behavior." 5. "The power of prayer is when we recognize that we can come boldly before the throne of grace and receive mercy and forgiveness. When we talk to God and realize that he truly is faithful and just, that if we confess our sins, he's faithful to forgive. The power of prayer is when we repent and we're honest. We keep it 100. We keep it a buck with Christ and we don't try to mince our word or act like it isn't like it's something that it's not, but we're honest." 6. "What I'm realizing is that some of us, we try to, when we come to God, we're afraid to ask big and God is like, that's all I want you to do is to ask big. I'm the God that does exceedingly and abundantly above all you could ever ask or think. So why don't you put me to the test and ask big so you can see me actually do exceedingly and abundantly above all that you could ever ask or think." 7. "The power of prayer really isn't in the words that we say or how we say them. The power of prayer is how prayer aligns us with God. The power of prayer is in how God speaks to us and helps us to align our will with his will so that way even if he doesn't do it the way that we want like the Hebrew boys we can still say yet will I praise him or like Job say yet will I praise him though he slay me he is still God he is still good he is still worthy of the praise." 8. "Your prayers have power because they have the power to unlock on earth what God is already doing in heaven. Your prayers have power because they have the power to activate God's will on here. So he's already lining it up and he's saying, if you would just pray, I'd get things started. I want to encourage you today that if you've been feeling kind of low in your prayer life, if you've been feeling like, I don't know how to pray, don't overcomplicate it. Keep it simple. He is your father." [30:00] (32 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)

9. "The beautiful thing about prayer that I've discovered is that not only do we talk to God, but God really does talk back. And the more we converse with him, the more we become sensitive to his voice, the more we become more aware of his presence, the more we become more aware of him telling us how we should live, how we should think, and how we should operate. My prayer for you and for me is that we would pray with passion, that we would pray consistently, that we would pray with conviction and confidence knowing that our prayers have power."
