And when we talk about the blood of Jesus Christ today, it has a symbolic meaning. To understand the meaning behind the blood of Jesus, you have to go back to the Old Testament because back in the Old Testament, God had a sacrificial system in place. The priests would take an animal like a young sheep, a lamb without any blemishes on it. [00:05:32]

The priest would sacrifice the sheep, and when I say sacrificed the sheep, the priests would kill the sheep and then the priest would present the sacrifice to God as payment or atonement for the sins of the people. Yes, God would accept the sacrifice as a substitute, but God decided that he would send Jesus to take the place of the lamb. [00:06:21]

When John the Baptist saw Jesus coming, he said, "Look, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world." We all know that Jesus did this when he went to Calvary, where he was crucified. When Jesus Christ gave his life, when He shed his blood at Calvary, there was no need for the system of sacrifices anymore because Jesus paid it all. [00:07:02]

Because of the blood of Jesus Christ, we have been redeemed. Yes, because of the blood of Jesus Christ, we have been redeemed because the scripture says in him we have redemption through his blood. Yes, in him we have redemption through his blood. Yes, we have been redeemed by the blood of Jesus Christ. [00:08:48]

To be redeemed means to buy something back. To be redeemed means to pay a price for something. To be redeemed means to give a ransom to have something returned back to you, and we have been redeemed by the blood of Jesus Christ. The Bible teaches us that we were not redeemed with such things as silver or gold. [00:09:15]

We were redeemed with the precious blood of Jesus Christ. Even Jesus said that he came to give his life as a ransom for many. Yes, he's been purchased by his blood. When God redeemed Israel from slavery in Egypt, he made them a new nation. He gave them new land, and the same thing with us. [00:09:45]

Because we have been redeemed by his blood, we have become a new creation in the kingdom of God. Yes, because of his blood, we are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation belonging to God. Since we were redeemed by God, that means that we belong to God. [00:10:18]

Because of the blood of Jesus Christ, we have been forgiven. Yes, because of the blood of Jesus Christ, we have been forgiven because the scripture says, "Look at the forgiveness of sins." Yes, for the forgiveness of sins. Yes, because of the blood, we have been forgiven of our sins. [00:12:15]

We were once dead in sin, we were slaves to sin, we were under the control of sin, but I stopped by here this morning to remind you that God hates sin. So God sent Jesus to reconcile us back to him. In fact, an angel of the Lord appeared unto Joseph and told him to take Mary as your wife. [00:12:48]

Because of the blood, we are now free. Yes, how free breaks the Lord. I've read a little about the will change going in me. My soul is resting. It's just a blessing. Praise the Lord, hallelujah, I'm free. Yes, you no longer have to live under the power of sin because of the blood. [00:13:53]

Despite what's going on in this world right now, we are protected by the blood of Jesus Christ. To be protected means to keep from harm or danger. Yes, we are covered, and we are protected by his love. For example, back in the Old Testament, God told the people of Israel to put some blood from a sacrifice on the doorframes of their houses. [00:16:37]

When God passed through Egypt to bring judgment on Egypt, the blood on the door would be a sign for him, and when God saw the blood, he would pass over them. Let me say that again: when God saw the blood, he would pass over them. Yes, the blood of Jesus Christ protects us. [00:17:15]
