Receiving blessings is an act of grace, not a transaction. It requires an open heart and a calm spirit to fully embrace the grace of God without feeling indebted or inadequate. Many struggle with receiving blessings because they feel they must earn them or repay them in some way. However, true blessing is a gift, freely given, and meant to be received with gratitude and humility. By allowing ourselves to be open to God's grace, we can experience the fullness of His love and presence in our lives. [05:57]
"The Lord is my portion; I promise to keep your words. I entreat your favor with all my heart; be gracious to me according to your promise." (Psalm 119:57-58, ESV)
Reflection: Think of a recent blessing you received. How can you practice receiving it with gratitude and without feeling the need to repay it?
Day 2: The Depth of the Aaronic Blessing
The Aaronic blessing is a profound invocation of God's goodness, protection, and presence. Each phrase of this blessing carries deep meaning and invites us to meditate on its significance. When we say, "The Lord bless you and keep you," we are invoking God's constant goodness and protection. "The Lord make His face shine upon you" speaks to the radiant presence of God, akin to the joyful face of a grandparent shining on a grandchild. This blessing is not just words but a powerful expression of God's desire to be intimately involved in our lives. [07:33]

Reflection: Take a moment to meditate on the Aaronic blessing. Which phrase resonates with you the most today, and why?
Day 3: Sharing God's Radiant Presence
Living in God's radiant presence means allowing His joy and peace to shine through us to others. When God's face shines upon us, it brings a sense of joy and peace that is meant to be shared. This radiance is not just for our benefit but is intended to reflect God's glory to those around us. By living in this way, we become conduits of God's love and light, spreading His presence in our communities and relationships. [09:25]
"Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you." (Isaiah 60:1, ESV)
Reflection: How can you intentionally share God's joy and peace with someone in your life today?
Day 4: Cultivating an Atmosphere of God's Reality
Blessing others creates an atmosphere of God's reality, inviting His manifest presence into our lives and communities. This presence brings peace and transforms our interactions with others. When we bless others, we are not only invoking God's favor upon them but also creating a space where His love and reality can be experienced. This practice helps us to live more fully in God's kingdom and to be agents of His peace and love in the world. [12:34]
"And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful." (Colossians 3:15, ESV)
Reflection: What is one way you can create an atmosphere of God's reality in your home or workplace today?
Day 5: Becoming a Beacon of Blessing
As we embrace the practice of blessing, we become beacons of light in our communities, spreading God's love and reality. Blessing others becomes a natural expression of living in God's kingdom. It is impossible to bless and harm simultaneously, and by choosing to bless, we align ourselves with God's purposes and become instruments of His peace and love. This way of life transforms not only our own hearts but also the communities we are a part of. [18:32]
"You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden." (Matthew 5:14, ESV)
Reflection: Who is someone in your community that you can intentionally bless today, and how will you do it?
Sermon Summary
In today's reflection, we explored the profound and transformative power of blessing. Blessing is not merely a ritual or a set of words; it is a deeply personal and spiritual act that requires our full presence and intention. We often struggle with receiving blessings because we feel indebted or inadequate, but true blessing is an act of grace, not a transaction. It is essential to be calm and open in our souls to fully receive the blessings bestowed upon us.
We delved into the significance of the Aaronic blessing from Numbers 6:24-26, which Moses instructed Aaron to use for the people of Israel. This blessing is a powerful invocation of God's goodness, protection, and presence. When we say, "God bless you and keep you," we are asking for God's constant goodness and protection to surround the person. The phrase "make His face shine upon you" speaks to the radiant presence of God, akin to the joyful face of a grandparent shining on a grandchild. This radiance is meant to be shared, reflecting God's glory through us.
The blessing also calls for God's grace and peace, emphasizing the importance of living in the manifest presence of God. This presence brings peace and creates an atmosphere of God's reality around the person being blessed. We are encouraged to take time to meditate on each phrase of the blessing, allowing its depth to resonate within us.
As we become people of blessing, we transform our communities into places where God's love and presence are evident. Blessing others becomes a natural expression of living in God's kingdom, and it is impossible to bless and harm simultaneously. By embracing this way of life, we become beacons of light, spreading God's love and reality in our communities.

It is really a challenge to come to the place to where you can just receive and it's a part of the grace of life with others to be able to receive their blessing. I think we all feel very inadequate and if someone wants to bless us we feel like we owe them something but that's what we need to move beyond. [00:05:51]
God bless you now that means God bring good constantly into your life. God bless you and keep you that means God protect you, God build around you his safekeeping, the blood of Jesus, the spirit of Christ be over you and keep you. [00:07:37]
There is such radiance that comes out of the person with the shining face and you know your face is meant to shine. Glory is something that is meant to be shared from God to human beings and Glory always shines, it always shines. [00:09:37]
The Manifest presence of God is basically what this is about. The Manifest presence of God, we know that God is present everywhere but he's not manifest everywhere and the invocation, the blessing here is designed to project that presence of God in a manifest way to the person you're talking to. [00:11:18]
To live in that atmosphere is what we're asking for, blessing. We're asking for an entire atmosphere of God's reality to be present on this person that we are blessing under the invocation of God. So you have to think of the depth of each phrase. [00:12:27]
Remember blessing is giving yourself and what is good to another person under the invocation of God. Now you will find that if you go through life with this it becomes a kind of constant way of living towards others under God and we can take it into every circumstance of life. [00:15:25]
You will find it is impossible to bless someone and to harm them at the same time and it can transform all of life. So imagine now becoming a person of blessing that what characterizes you all the time is blessing is flowing out from you. [00:17:41]
The reality of the church then becomes an overwhelming presence in the community and the love that flows in the community becomes the testimony of the reality of Jesus and of God's plan and of the Kingdom at work in us. [00:18:40]
Imagine now becoming a person of blessing that's how you're identified. Think of someone saying well who is and gives you a name well they're a person of blessing and they think of themselves in that way who am I I am a person of blessing. [00:19:01]
You might want to conclude your services by letting the congregation bless the pastor or the musicians or the worship leader. It would be a wonderful gift to them to do that so I encourage you to experiment with this both in the details of your life in your church, in your community. [00:20:09]
Just keep that blessing flowing often when Jesus would have a powerful encounter with somebody he would ask them to do something coming out of that encounter and that one thing wasn't a legalistic thing but it was a way to kind of help them in their following him make it real and concrete and continual. [00:20:41]
Take a moment to make a decision. We often don't get real clear about that but that can be real helpful. Take a moment to just be real clear no I'm deciding and if there's a win attached to it then I make a decision a commitment around that. [00:22:09]
