So in this busy age where we are burdened with countless demands we must ask ourselves, does it have to be prayer? Does it have to be prayer? Does it have to be prayer? help to take time to pray and the answer is absolutely jeremiah chapter 33 verse 3 says call to me and i will answer you and show you great and mighty things which you do not know many great things happen when god's people call upon him souls are saved burdens are lifted power comes revival start missionary efforts gain momentum and churches thrive when we pray second chronicles chapter 7 verse 14 says if [00:01:14]

My people who are called by My name will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways. Then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land. [00:01:57]

See much effort without prayer often results in failure but the same effort bathed in prayer may yield great results. James chapter 5 verse 16b says the effective fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. [00:00:59]

The Philippians 4, verses 6 and 7 say, be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known unto God and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Amen? [00:02:56]

Picking up at verse 23 of Acts chapter 4. And being let go, they went to their own companions and reported all that the chief priests and elders had said to them. So when they heard that, they raised their voice to God with one accord and said, Lord, You are God who made the heaven and the earth and the sea and all that is in them. Who by the mouth of Your servant David have said, why did the nations rage and the people plot vain things? [00:06:04]

believers when they prayed and let us believe that god still moves the same way today amen the first thing that happened when they prayed is they were filled with the holy spirit see these early believers they faced great opposition and needed a greater power than their own they needed courage and wisdom and strength beyond human capability acts chapter 4 verse 31 says and when they had prayed the place where they were assembled together was shaken and they were all filled with the holy spirit and they spoke the word of god with boldness see these early believers they needed a power that only the holy spirit could provide and this is the supreme need of god's people today amen the modern church the modern church so desperately needs to seek the same power from the same holy spirit and we know that the holy spirit comes into our lives when we we have salvation and we repent of our sins the church we need more we need his in feeling as we face the task before us amen so why are we not continually filled with the holy spirit well the answer is simple it's because of the worldliness we allow in our hearts the holy spirit is ready to fill us when the need arises but too often he is crowded into the corner because of the other things that we pour into our lives because out of the abundance of what's in your heart it's what comes out of you so what are you pouring into your life today [00:07:59]

The authorities had commanded Peter and John to remain silent, to never speak again, or teach in the name of Jesus. We see this in verse 18 of chapter 4. So they called them and commanded them not to speak at all, nor teach in the name of Jesus. Yet after receiving this warning, this threat, they gathered with the believers and they prayed. They prayed! And when they prayed, they were filled with the Holy Spirit and they spoke the Word of God with boldness. [00:13:05]

And today, in our country, we do not face the same threats, yet many believers hesitate to share their faith. We fear awkward conversations, social rejection, or being treated rudely while the early church faced prison, torture, and death for speaking in the name of Jesus. Why are we so timid? Shame on us. The answer's simple. We lack prayer -powered courage. [00:14:11]

The third thing that happened when they prayed is they became a united people. Acts chapter 4, verse 32a, Now the multitude of those who believed were of one heart and of one soul. These early Christians were of one heart and one soul, a unity so deep that they held nothing back from one another. Oh, how we desperately need that same spirit of unity in the church today. [00:18:31]

Our churches are filled with spiritual potential, but instead of becoming giants of faith, many believers shrink into spiritual pygmies, wasting time fighting each other instead of fighting the enemy. And this gives Satan his greatest joy. James chapter 3, verse 16. For where envy and self -seeking is the only thing that can save us, [00:21:35]

The fourth thing that happened when they prayed is they had a true sense of stewardship. Acts chapter 4, verse 32b. Neither did anyone say that any of the things he possesses was his own, but they had all things in common. See, these early believers, they understand or understood a profound truth. Everything that they had belonged to God. [00:23:07]

to true stewardship is not simply about giving but it's about seeking God's will for our resources for our time and our abilities and it is through prayer that we learn to honor God with what he has entrusted us with amen to those who are [00:25:42]
