A virtuous woman is described as having a value far above rubies, her worth immeasurable and her character marked by moral goodness and purity. Such a mother is a rare blessing, embodying faithfulness, integrity, and a heart that continually praises the Lord. Her influence is felt deeply within her family, and her presence is a testament to the unique love and strength that God instills in mothers. Reflect on the ways a godly mother shapes the lives of those around her, not just through her actions, but through her unwavering faith and devotion. [59:01]
Proverbs 31:10-12 (ESV) An excellent wife who can find? She is far more precious than jewels. The heart of her husband trusts in her, and he will have no lack of gain. She does him good, and not harm, all the days of her life.
Reflection: Who is a woman in your life whose faith and character have shaped you? How can you honor her today in a way that shows your gratitude for her godly influence?
Day 2: The Tireless Labor and Sacrifice of Mothers
A godly mother is a hard worker, often laboring late into the night and rising early to provide for her family. She manages her household with wisdom, stretches every resource, and gives of herself even when it means sacrificing her own comfort. Her work is never done, yet she continues with love, diligence, and a spirit of contentment, trusting God to multiply her efforts. Consider the unseen sacrifices and tireless efforts that mothers make each day, and how these acts of service reflect the heart of Christ. [01:09:18]
Proverbs 31:13-19 (ESV) She seeks wool and flax, and works with willing hands. She is like the ships of the merchant; she brings her food from afar. She rises while it is yet night and provides food for her household and portions for her maidens. She considers a field and buys it; with the fruit of her hands she plants a vineyard. She dresses herself with strength and makes her arms strong. She perceives that her merchandise is profitable. Her lamp does not go out at night. She puts her hands to the distaff, and her hands hold the spindle.
Reflection: What is one practical way you can lighten the load for a mother in your life this week, showing appreciation for her daily sacrifices?
Day 3: Compassion and Generosity in Action
A godly mother is not only devoted to her own family but also extends her hands to the poor and needy. Even when she has little, she finds ways to bless others, often through small acts of kindness that carry great meaning. Her love is demonstrated in practical ways, whether it’s sharing food, offering comfort, or simply being present for someone in need. This spirit of generosity is a reflection of God’s love, teaching her children the value of compassion and selflessness. [01:11:45]
Proverbs 31:20-22 (ESV) She opens her hand to the poor and reaches out her hands to the needy. She is not afraid of snow for her household, for all her household are clothed in scarlet. She makes bed coverings for herself; her clothing is fine linen and purple.
Reflection: Who is someone outside your immediate family you can bless today with a small act of kindness, following the example of a generous heart?
Day 4: The Power of a Mother’s Faith and Prayer
A mother’s faith can have a profound impact on her family, especially through persistent prayer and godly example. Her prayers can lead to transformation in the lives of her children and spouse, even when circumstances seem unchangeable. The testimony of a faithful mother who does not give up, but continues to lift her loved ones before the Lord, is a powerful force for salvation and spiritual growth within the home. Trust that God hears and honors the prayers of a faithful heart. [01:21:25]
1 Peter 3:1-2 (ESV) Likewise, wives, be subject to your own husbands, so that even if some do not obey the word, they may be won without a word by the conduct of their wives, when they see your respectful and pure conduct.
Reflection: Is there someone in your family you have been praying for? How can you renew your commitment to pray for them today, trusting God for their transformation?
Day 5: True Beauty Flows from a Heart that Fears the Lord
While outward beauty fades, the true beauty of a godly mother is found in her strength, honor, wisdom, and reverence for God. She is praised not for her appearance, but for her character and her fear of the Lord, which sets her apart and earns her the respect and love of her family. Her legacy is not measured by what is seen, but by the lasting impact of her faith, kindness, and devotion. Seek to cultivate inner beauty that reflects Christ, knowing that this is what endures and is most precious in God’s sight. [01:32:19]
Proverbs 31:29-31 (ESV) Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all. Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. Give her of the fruit of her hands, and let her works praise her in the gates.
Reflection: In what ways can you focus on developing inner qualities that honor God, rather than being concerned with outward appearance?
Sermon Summary
Today’s reflection centers on the beauty, strength, and spiritual significance of a godly mother, as described in Proverbs 31. The worth of such a woman is beyond measure—her value far surpasses rubies, and her character is marked by moral goodness, purity, and a deep relationship with the Lord. These qualities are rare and precious in any age, but especially so in our time. A godly mother is not only a blessing to her family but also a living testimony of God’s grace and love.
The passage highlights the many roles a mother fulfills: she is a trustworthy partner to her husband, a diligent worker, a wise steward of resources, and a compassionate helper to those in need. Her days are filled with labor, often stretching late into the night, yet she does not grow weary in doing good. The sacrifices she makes—whether in the kitchen, at work, or in the quiet moments of prayer for her family—are acts of love that shape the lives of those around her.
Personal stories remind us that the impact of a mother’s love and faithfulness endures long after she is gone. The small acts of kindness, the lessons in contentment, and the prayers offered in secret all bear fruit in the lives of her children and even her husband. The true beauty of a woman is not found in outward appearance, but in the strength, honor, and wisdom that flow from a heart that fears the Lord.
To honor mothers is to recognize the divine calling they carry. Whether your mother is still with you or has gone on to glory, gratitude and respect are fitting responses. For those who have not yet come to know Christ, the invitation is open: the foundation of a truly godly life—and the ability to pass on a legacy of faith—begins with a relationship with Jesus. Today is a day to thank God for mothers, to mend relationships if needed, and to cherish the time we have with those we love.
Key Takeaways
1. The Incomparable Worth of a Godly Mother A mother who fears the Lord is described as more precious than rubies. Her value cannot be measured by material standards, for her moral purity and spiritual devotion set her apart in a world where such qualities are increasingly rare. Her life is a living example of God’s love and faithfulness, and her influence extends far beyond her immediate family. [59:01]
2. Partnership and Sacrifice in Family Life A godly mother is a true helpmate, working alongside her husband to build a strong family. This partnership is not just about shared chores, but about mutual trust, encouragement, and the willingness to go the extra mile for one another. Her sacrifices—often unseen—are the glue that holds the family together, and her example teaches the next generation the value of cooperation and selflessness. [60:18]
3. The Power of Quiet Faithfulness Much of a mother’s work is done in the background: late-night tasks, stretching resources, and persistent prayers for her loved ones. These acts may seem small or go unnoticed, but they are powerful expressions of faith. God honors the quiet, steadfast faithfulness of mothers, using their daily labors to shape hearts and destinies in ways that only eternity will fully reveal. [69:18]
4. Compassion Beyond Circumstance Even when resources are limited, a godly mother finds ways to bless others. Her generosity is not dependent on abundance, but on a heart that sees and responds to the needs around her. The small acts of kindness—like sharing from her own table or offering encouragement—reflect the heart of Christ and teach her children the true meaning of love and service. [72:15]
5. Legacy of Prayer and Spiritual Influence A mother’s prayers are a powerful force in the spiritual life of her family. Even when results are not immediate, her persistent intercession can lead to transformation and salvation for her loved ones. The legacy of a praying mother endures, often bringing about blessings and breakthroughs that are only understood in hindsight. [81:25]

Sermon Clips
You see, how can you put a price tag on on a mother? And the answer is you can't. You cannot. You can't put a price tag. Bible says here, this woman that he's describing here, this virtuous woman here, uh, she is morally good and pure. Think about it. Think about those words right here this morning. Think about how rare that is today in our society to find ladies like this. She's morally good and pure. [00:58:53]
But you know, I think the thing that set her apart and I think it does with all ladies too is I believe this woman knew the Lord. This woman was a Christian. This woman right here followed the ways of God and she praised the Lord continually. [00:59:39]
And many of you that are sitting here today have had or have mothers today that feels these words today. And you know what it is today, folks? It's a blessing. And this woman right here was that type of lady. She was that type of person. [01:00:06]
I know you know it takes two to make a family. It takes a man and a woman. Come on. And it takes two working together to make a family. Come on. And I'm talking about the children cuz most families have children that's uh that's in the midst of it. [01:00:49]
Mothers have so much to do. Many moms today, most moms today have to work because things are so expensive today. It's hard for just to have one bread winner within the house. Most moms have to work and then on top of that is to take care of the home and all the things. [01:01:23]
But then you take all that and you bring all that together and be a mother and help raise these children and teach them the ways of the Lord. What an awesome thing it is. You know who can only do that, who can only work through and do that is God. [01:02:16]
And you think about today, you think about your mom and you think about all the many things maybe your mom did or maybe some of the things you didn't even know that she did to help meet the needs of people. And you got to go back and think now, folks, because we all came from different families. [01:11:59]
But you know what? One thing my mom always taught me through all the things of that, even when you don't have anything and when you don't have very much, you can still got things that you can still help people with. You know, sometimes it's not the great big thing that you do or that I do, but sometimes it's the small things. [01:12:26]
And you know what folks and I think about that and you think about mothers here and how God works. God has a way of working things out. Even when we don't understand and even when we don't know what's going on, he has a plan. [01:20:00]
I believe one reason my dad got saved was all the years that my mom prayed for him. And I want to tell you something ladies, you might be sitting here this morning and you might be saying to this, you might say, "Well, you know, my husband is not saved. My husband doesn't know Jesus." I want to tell you something this morning. Don't give up on him. Keep on praying for them. Keep on lifting them up because things will happen that you and I never dreamed of. [01:21:47]
But still, even though things change on the outside, when you got that smile and it's on the inside and that love and that appreciation is there, I don't care how many wrinkles comes. I don't care how many hairs fall out of our head. It's still different when it's on the inside. And that love, you know that old song we sing, love never fails. That verse, it keeps on keeping on, right? [01:28:07]
She speaks with kindness. She demonstrates love. Oh man, this woman right here was that godly epitome of who of what a Christian was, a woman, and serving the Lord. She she showed who she was. She showed the kindness and demonstrated that. [01:29:40]
And sometimes it means burning the midnight oil. Sometimes it means going the extra mile and all that. But she was going to make sure that that was that they were taken care of. Notice again the respect from her children and her husband. Why? Because she has earned that respect. She's earned it. You ladies have earned it. As mothers, as wives, you have earned that respect. [01:30:56]
And when you see that and when you see that and guess what men when you show that respect to your wife, you know what it does? It rubs off on the kids and the kids show even more mutual respect for the for the dad and for the mom. Why? Because they seen their parents show it. [01:31:31]
You know, the only way to be the best mom you can be in the world, first of all, you got to be saved. You got to be saved. You got to know Jesus. You got to know him. There are many there are many ladies out here today that's that's done really good and really helped out with their families and done all these great things. [01:32:34]
And this morning as as Jolie and the praise come this morning to lead us. I want you this morning if you would. Your mom may be living. Your mom may have gone on. But I just wondered today, would you just come up here today and maybe would you just again thank the Lord and say, "Lord, thank you for my mother. She may not be here, but Lord, I'm looking forward one day to seeing her again. Lord, I'm looking forward one day to meeting her again. I'm looking forward one day to spending all of eternity with her one more time for all of eternity. I'm looking forward to that." [01:35:44]
