The first thing to be said is that his whole life and Ministry was a testimony to the power and to the influence of Christian books not simply that first book but so many that followed after his conversion about the age of 23 24 he was constantly reading when he began his ministry. [00:00:46]

One reason he would have given was that the books that were his companions were different books from those that the majority were reading and then as that Ministry developed and he came to London how often how repeatedly he held up to us the great privilege that we have in the English-speaking world of a great heritage of Christian literature. [00:01:38]

Supremely he was committed to the preaching of the word of God with the living voice that was his Supreme commitment let me read you the words of one whom Dr Lloyd Jones resembles so much John Knox you know only published one sermon and he felt it necessary to give a sentence on or two of explanation. [00:03:07]

His preaching was so mightily used to prepare the way for the literature to change the climate to change the atmosphere so that there was the beginning of a spiritual hunger that made people turn not to the commonly read books but to turn back to books that had been forgotten and books that supremely honored God. [00:04:20]

God granted him another 13 years of life and that stream of books that had gone out under his name became a flood and went round the world in more than 50 nations in upwards of a million copies not only in English but in in other languages in French in Spanish in Africans and in other countries. [00:05:53]

They were spiritual books that is to say they not only instruct the mind but they speak to you they speak to your heart to your conscience they do something to you they are spiritual books and you know one great proof of their spirituality is this that the appeal that they have has gotten nothing whatever to do with culture or education. [00:08:24]

Wherever it exists then people relish the books of Dr Lloyd Jones just last week I heard a pastor from Yugoslavia whose language is not English of course saying and he has many of Dr L Jones's books that he has read each one of those books three times over they are spiritual books and secondly they are Timeless. [00:09:17]

There's a freshness about them and the reason for that is that there is so much of the word of God in them he was only a voice if you read his books what you get is not an impression of a man not anecdotes about what he was but you get a messenger and you get the word of God speaking to you. [00:10:34]

The holy spirit says remember them which have spoken unto you the word of God you may remember other things but this above all that they spoke to you the word of God whose Faith follow whose Faith follow and there is no a soul in this building who hasn't the opportunity to know the faith of this servant of Christ. [00:09:17]

Whenever you see his books remember the exaltation of the Holy Spirit and remembering the end of their conversation that is to say that these who spoke to us the word of God they have passed out of this world for them there came a time when the rain descended and the floods Rose and the wind blew and they did not fall. [00:10:34]

We have indeed an obligation to thank God for that abundance of literature which came from his hand but more than that not only to thank God but to take it up to read it to pray over it to pray that God would bless its message to all the ends of the Earth and to use it for the advancement of the kingdom of the Lord Jesus Christ. [00:10:34]

Dr Lloyd Jones died in triumphant hope victoriously in abounding peace remember the end of their conversation and then finally Jesus Christ the same yesterday today and forever it was Christ who made him all that he was the gifts that he had the grace that he had the message that he brought.
