The gospel is only of benefit if it's received and if one will stand in it now do you know what the word gospel means it simply means good news that's what the word means in the original language of the New Testament and as the word was used in ancient times it didn't necessarily describe religious news or the news about Jesus Christ. [00:01:25]

The gospel describes things which happened actual real historical events the gospel is not a matter of religious opinions of platitudes or fairy tales the gospel is all about real historical events. [00:10:00]

The gospel is that Jesus died, was buried, and then look at the third item in verse four and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures he rose again my friends now this is the point Paul's really been waiting to get at this truth is essential to the gospel. [00:22:53]

The resurrection of Jesus is not some addon to the more important work of the Cross if the cross is the payment for our sin then the empty tomb is the receipt and friends what coulds the payment if you don't have the receipt you got to have the receipt right you got to have some evidence that the price was paid. [00:24:36]

If Christ is not risen then those who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished friends if there is no principle of Resurrection then the dead in Christ are gone forever for ever finally look at it in verse 19 if Christ is not risen then in this life only we have hope in Christ we are of all men the most pitiable. [00:56:47]

Paul was a changed man he was forgiven he was cleansed he was full of love when once he was full of hate and Paul knew that this was not his own accomplishment but it was the work of the grace of God within him now friends let me just point this out that the grace that saves us changes us. [00:43:13]

Paul says I labored I worked conce ably if Paul had not worked as hard as he did the grace of God given to him in some measure would have been given in vain now Grace by definition is given freely but how we receive God's grace will help determine how effective God's grace is within us. [00:44:21]

God does not give us his grace because of Any Works past present or promised yet the grace of God is not given to replace our work it's given to encourage our work it's not given to say that work isn't necessary God does not want you to receive his grace and then become passive. [00:44:57]

Paul knew that God gives his grace and then we work hard and then the work of God is done we work in a partnership with God why because he needs us get serious God needs us come on no we work with God because God wants us to share in his work. [00:45:31]

Paul would say you bet I work hard in fact I work harder than any other Apostle but you know what Paul wouldn't dwell on it Paul wouldn't go around thinking I work harder I work harder he wouldn't go around you know they called James Brown the hardest working man in Show Business. [00:50:22]

Paul says now at verse 12 now if Christ is preached that he has been raised from the dead how do some among you say that there is no resurrection of the dead but if there is no resurrection of the dead then Christ is not risen. [00:51:50]

If Jesus cannot offer a complete sacrifice for sins then my sins are not completely paid for before God if my sins are not completely paid for before God then I'm still in my sins if Jesus Christ is not risen from the dead he's unable to save me. [00:56:36]
