#AbideAndExamine
“``And you might be asking why does he keep going back to it? Because every I think every week, we've said something about abiding, walking in light, confessing your sins. But, usually, when people start repeating things, it's because it's really important. And John is really stressing to the church the importance of all of those factors. Because John understood this, a drifting Christian rarely notices when they're drifting until they're too far from shore. And that's why John calls believers to examine their lives. You have to examine before deception wrecks your faith, bitterness wrecks your heart, and before compromise can wreck your testimony.”

#LoveOverFear
“John wants to remind believers not to fear because God's love is greater than your fear. God's love is greater than a fear of failure, a fear of rejection, a fear of judgment, or a fear of going to work tomorrow. Because when God's love fills your heart, fear loses its authority. the believer's confidence is not found in your personal performance. It's found in God's perfect love. And that perfect love is shown there in Romans five eight. God shows his love for us while we were still sinners there. He died for us while you still hated him. That's the kind of love we're called to have. And we can't earn that love, and we don't deserve that love, but we receive that love.”

#ShapedByWhoYouFollow
“And his love will transform you. See, every day, we're listening to voices. Every day, we're making choices, and every day, we're becoming someone. The question is, who is shaping you? Is it culture? Is it your social media? Is it your emotions, or is it Christ? Because eventually, whatever continually shapes your mind will eventually shape your life. Whoever you spend time with, you'll look more like them.”

#AbbaConfidence
“a child doesn't just sleep peacefully during a thunderstorm. reason they're sleeping peacefully is because their confidence is that their dad's in the next room. Likewise, when your world's falling apart and you feel like those storms of life are on full rage and you feel lost and confused and you feel like you're in a desert, you get to be confident because you know Abba. You know your father. God's in that room with you. Come on. That's where your faith is. That's where your confidence is. It's not in just your confidence is in Jesus.”
