#ForgivenThroughJesus
“Jesus is the reason why opening your mouth guarantees forgiveness. Jesus carried our sins on the cross. He experienced the judgment that we deserved, and then three days later, he rose from the dead so that you and I could be forgiven and brought into a healthy relationship with God. You see, because of Jesus, friends, no matter what you may be carrying this morning, no matter where you may be what you may be hiding this morning because of Jesus, God's word over you is this. God's word over you is this, that you can be forgiven. God's word over you is this, that that your transgressions can be covered. God's word over you is this, that you do not have to hide anymore.”

#ConfessAndBeForgiven
“He opened his mouth and God forgave him. There was no trial period. He confessed and God forgave him. There was no prove it first period. He confessed and God forgave him. There was no let me shame you first. He confessed and God forgave him. It's possible this morning, friends, that that some of you might be still trying to act like your sins are not real. And others of you might still be walking around with your head weighted down by the guilt and the shame of what you've done.”

#ConfessionIsFreedom
“``Here's confession, church. Confession is when you stop arguing with God about what happened. Confession is when you face up and you said, yes, that was on me, and I'm ready to tell the truth about it. David said I did not cover my inequity. I did not act like it wasn't there. I didn't reveal parts of it and then leave the other parts hidden. I exposed it all. And check this out. When David covered his sin, it wasn't himself. But when God covered David's sin, he felt freedom. When God covered David's sin, he experienced joy. If anybody's going to be covering sin, let it be God. If anybody's gonna be covering your sin, let it be God and not you. Because when God covers your sin, there is joy and there is freedom and there is forgiveness.”

#SilenceHasACost
“The question then for us this morning is this church. The question then is why do we find it so hard to tell the truth, especially about our sins? If telling the truth is freeing, if telling the truth brings brings about a a relief, why then do we find it hard to tell the truth about about about what is going on, especially about our sins? I think one of the reasons be shame. Shame tells us that opening our mouth will cost us more than remaining silent. Shame whispers to us that opening our mouth and and letting the truth out will will cost us more remaining silent. But friends, here's the truth this morning. Silence has a cost as well. Here's the truth for you this morning. Silence has a cost.”

#OwnItFindBlessing
“The blessed person is the person who sinned, but it's not just the person who sinned, it's a person who sinned and whose sin has been covered by God. But here's the thing as well. He's the person who sinned whose sin has been covered by God and has stopped pretending about their sin. They stopped explaining their sin away. They stopped acting like it wasn't a big deal. They're honest about where they fell short. They're honest about where they missed the mark. They're honest about what they did that perhaps they they shouldn't have done. That's the person who king David said is blessed. The the person whose sin is is is forgiven, whose whose transgression is covered, and and it's covered because they realize, man, I messed up, and I gotta be and I have to stop pretending that I messed up, and I have to let god know that I messed up, and god covers it. The road toward experiencing joy, the road towards experiencing the blessing of forgiveness, it starts with honesty. cannot experience the joy of being forgiven without honesty. You cannot enjoy the the the blessing that comes with with the forgiveness of God while still acting like while still minimizing the sin that that you are engaging in or that you have engaged in.”

#ForgivenessByGrace
“Here's what that means. It means that your forgiveness does not need an extra effort from you beyond the confession of your sins. You cannot work your way into God forgiving you. You cannot serve enough. You cannot give enough. You you cannot pray enough. You cannot confess enough and act like those who be what pays for your sins. It's not like the drug dealer in the streets who engages in gang activity, and then on Thanksgiving ends our turkey hoping that the turkey would cause people to look away from the wicked behavior that's been destroying the community. God doesn't work like that. You you don't get to go do do do do what is do do your sins, do what is wrong, and then say, well, if I do enough good things, maybe that'll away my bad, and then I could be good. No. Jesus is how our sins forgiven. Confession is how we come to the light, and Jesus is the reason why forgiveness is waiting for us.”

#HonestyLeadsToJoy
“The road toward experiencing joy, the road towards experiencing the blessing of forgiveness, it starts with honesty. cannot experience the joy of being forgiven without honesty. You cannot enjoy the the the blessing that comes with with the forgiveness of God while still acting like while still minimizing the sin that that you are engaging in or that you have engaged in. How many times have you heard someone pray for success in an endeavor that they're engaging in even though that endeavor goes against the values of God? Right. How many times have you pretended that your sin isn't a big deal so you continue to live in that deceit?”

#GodsLoveExposesHarm
“You see, that's the truth, friends. Sometimes the love of God will make it difficult for you to remain comfortable with something that is destroying you. Sometimes, the love of God will make it difficult for you to remain comfortable with something that is destroying you. And that's what I want you to hear this morning, church. I want you to to hear this this morning. The effect of hiding your sin often extends into other areas of your life.”
