#HeartAliveInGod
“God didn't even give up on Manasseh. Nothing that is living is static. Meaning that it just stays the same. It's either growing or dying. It's true for us too who are made alive spiritually. We are not static. We are either growing spiritually or we are dying spiritually. God tells us to stay with him in his word. When he gives us a new heart and he gives us his spirit, he says, this is how I want you to keep that spirit alive. How to keep that heart beating to my love, to know my love.”

#NewHeartsNewLife
“The remnant of Judah that returned to Israel after the Babylonian captivity were returned during the reign of the Persians. They went back with new spiritual hearts. What God did for them, he did for us as well. We were spiritually dead by nature, the bible says. But God raised us to new life through the gospel, through the good news. He has given us new hearts as well in our conversion.”

#NourishSpiritualHeart
“What happens next in our story? With the new hearts that we have, what's the next chapter? Now in time, we have to exercise our faith. We have to keep that spiritual heart beating. We have the holy spirit helping us do that. We have the promise of word and sacrament to nourish and nurture that heart. So we keep doing those things. But a time is coming when we will have new hearts of perfect peace for all eternity. That is what scripture points us to for our next episode.”

#GodAtWorkInHistory
“As you read chronicles, maybe you you read all of second chronicles this week. Right? Okay. If you didn't, maybe this will encourage you to go back and do that. But as you read this, it's it's very clear that history is not happenstance. It's all part of God's plan. What we read in our newspapers or hear on our radios or see in our televisions is not just the dreary daily catalog of humanity's inhumanity to their fellow humans. God is still in charge and he is still working in all these things. Working judgment, yes, but more importantly working his grace. This in a nutshell is the chroniclers message.”
