Surrender is not about giving control to a church, a leader, or an organization. Surrender is about giving the whole steering wheel to Jesus. The healthiest church is a church full of people who have stopped trying to run everything themselves and have released their lives to Christ. Proverbs 3:5-6 puts it plain: trust in the Lord with all the heart, do not lean on personal understanding, seek His will, and let Him show the path.

The steering wheel from an old Chevy pickup and the fancy lane-assist features in a newer vehicle expose the struggle. Control feels good until the car starts pulling a different direction, slowing things down, or warning against a move that seems right. Spiritual life can work the same way. The Holy Spirit gives power for more than a private, comfortable faith. Acts 1:8 sends witnesses into Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and the ends of the earth. Witnesses confidently declare that Jesus is absolutely true, even when that declaration costs them something. Samaria reminds the church that Jesus sends His people toward those who are not like them, not merely toward familiar people and comfortable places.

The church becomes powerful and unstoppable when surrendered people live on mission wherever God has planted them. Jesus builds His church, and the gates of hell cannot stop it because gates are defensive. Christ sends His people into hell on earth to rescue people, fill heaven, and empty hell. Salvation itself declares, “Jesus is Lord,” yet surrendered faith keeps asking which areas have taken the wheel back from Him. The Spirit calls people to surrender for the first time, or for the six hundred and seventy-eighth time, and to let Christ have control over life, family, and church.
