#FightSelfishness
“The fact that Paul mentions these instructions indicates that there's a real temptation not to do these things. It's tempting to put self first and not submit to your husband. It's tempting to put self first and not love your wife. It's tempting to put self first and not obey your parents. It's tempting to put self first and not spend the effort to train your children well. It's tempting to put self first and not treat your employees justly. It's tempting to put self first and not work as hard as if you were working into the Lord.”

#RelationshipsMatter
“So as we sum this up this morning, what is Paul trying to say here? It's simply that relationships matter to God. God has a design structure and order in our relationships. We see that from the very beginning in Genesis, and there are roles that each one of us play within that structure. When we step outside those boundaries, we begin to reject God's plan, and that will ultimately lead to sin and a breakdown of the relationship itself. So the way that we treat each other matters.”

#RespondWithGrace
“I realize that some of us may feel like that we've got a handle on this, and maybe even some of us might have the boldness to say that my wife and I's relationship is going perfectly fine since we've been together or any other relationship. And I would respond to you, do you actually talk to each other? Because here's here's the truth. If you live in relationship with someone long enough, you are going to have conflict. It's not a matter of if, it's a matter of when. So, when that time comes, how are you going to respond? you going to respond with bitterness, anger, resentment, disagreements, avoidance, separation, or wishing ill will on that person? Or will you respond with forgiveness, reconciliation, and repentance?”

#LoveByListening
“But look, I I did a bad job of loving my wife well in that moment. I could have easily listened to her for the remaining fifteen minutes of our walk. In verse 18, and he's Paul is specifically kinda addressing women, but this can be applied to to the men as well. He he mentions a statement as is fitting in the Lord. This can have a wide meaning from a practical application standpoint. The Bible doesn't give us a complete list of ways that husbands can love their wives, nor does it give a complete list of wives respecting their husbands. Instead, we have the spirit of God living inside us that guides us through those best practices, if you will. So, when I walk along the road with my wife and she's talking about something that's important to her, I can love her well as is fitting in the Lord by listening intently to her.”
