#VoiceForTheVoiceless
“And third, advocate for those who cannot. We are called to be the voice of the voiceless. I mean, here in this church of Saint John, each and every week, we pray for missionaries serving in places around the world that we support, not just as a church, but also as the North American Lutheran Church. Missionaries serving in countries all over the globe. But, I don't know if you notice this every week when we pray for those missionaries, we pray for missionaries in places and countries that we can't name because they will be killed.”

#UnitedInChrist
“But remember that you are not alone in any of it. You now stand with the community of his church, of Jesus' church, a people that is bound together in Christ, strengthened by his promises, and supported by one another. And so look around you. Everybody in this place is here to support one another through the adversity is that our faith and the hostility of our this world will bring upon us. Because this is our sure confidence that the church cannot be defeated.”

#DeathHasNoVictory
“But just because we may not have to face it doesn't mean there are that there aren't others who do. And so the knowledge that there are others out there who will have to face death for Christ should deepen your gratitude and strengthen your resolve in following Jesus today. And so here is what you are called to do. First, don't lose hope. Don't lose hope. Like the Israelites, the Lord goes before you and stands behind you even in the face of death, even in the face of martyrdom. Death has no victory over you. Christ has already overcome it.”

#BaptizedAndSent
“And so, we generalize regions when we pray for those missionaries because if we named the countries in which they serve, it would put them in them and their families in literal danger of death. And we pray for them every week because we stand with them and we witness for them. And so my friends, especially my confirmation friends who are being confirmed today, it is a joyful and significant day for you because today, you take your baptismal faith upon yourselves. Today, the faith becomes your own and you step forward as witnesses to Christ.”
