A supernormal natural church is first of all a normal church, but normal is not measured by style, preference, titles, or performance. A normal church is not pretentious. Authenticity has nothing to prove, nothing to measure up for, nothing to perform for, and nothing to hide behind. God has already proved his goodness in Christ, so the church only gives reproof, confirming what Jesus has already shown through the cross.

Man pleasing has to die because performance creates religious facades, hierarchy games, and the “man of God syndrome.” Servant leadership moves from the bottom up, undergirding people instead of standing over them with haughty eyes. The supernormal natural church makes space for people to be broken, weak, honest, and still loved without shame.

The prayer of a healthy church is not to see everything God sees, because too much knowledge can rob childlikeness. The prayer is for God to show only what he wants seen, and for people to see themselves and others the way God sees them. Childlikeness does not mean immaturity. And although you don't build a local church on the power gifts, you don't build a church on manifestations and revival and running around and shaking and convulsing and casting out demons. Those things can happen. But you build a church on family vision and leadership, but you must also have the power of God in the midst of it, which is why you have to make spaces for it. Because you can't do it all on a Sunday morning.”
