God is supernatural from the very beginning. God spoke the universe into existence, walked with Adam and Eve, called Abraham, worked through Moses and Joshua, brought down Jericho, used Gideon with three hundred men, and still used even somebody like Samson. Jonah shows that God loves people whom His servants may not even want to love. God spared Nineveh when that city repented, even while Jonah cared more about a dead plant than thousands of souls.
Jesus comes as God in the flesh, dies on the cross, rises again on the third day, and proves that death does not have the final word. Acts 1 shows the risen Jesus telling His followers not to run ahead, but to wait for the Father’s promised gift. Jesus promises that the Holy Spirit will give power so that His people can be witnesses from Jerusalem to the ends of the earth.
Acts 2 shows that promise arriving at Pentecost. The Spirit fills ordinary Galileans, and people from all over hear the Word of God in their own languages. Critics immediately try to explain away what God is doing, calling the disciples drunk, because there are always people who try to turn a miracle into something merely physical. Peter, however, stands up and points straight to Jesus, the One whom they crucified and whom God raised from the dead. The people are cut to the heart, repent, and thousands come to know Christ.
Acts 3 shows that the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth makes a man lame from birth walk, jump, and praise God. Peter refuses to take credit, because neither his power nor his godliness healed the man. Jesus did it. The religious leaders cannot deny the miracle because the healed man is standing right there, but they still oppose Peter and John because Jesus interferes with their power structure.
Acts 4 shows the change the Holy Spirit brings. Peter, who once denied Jesus, now stands before the very people who condemned Jesus and says salvation is found in no one else. The rejected stone has become the cornerstone. Peter and John cannot help speaking about what they have seen and heard, because human beings will not stand in the way of God’s ministry.
The Holy Spirit still transforms people. Jesus remains the answer for people trapped in sin, drugs, alcohol, fear, and hopelessness. The church cannot argue people into the kingdom, but through the Spirit’s power it can love people into the kingdom by showing them how much God loves them and what Christ has done for them.

Key Takeaways
- 1. God still transforms ordinary people. Peter once denied Jesus when pressure came down hard. The Holy Spirit gave him courage to stand before rulers, elders, and the same religious system that had condemned Christ. God does not merely improve a person’s personality; He changes fearful people into witnesses who can speak the truth. [64:04]
- 2. Miracles point straight to Jesus. The lame man did not stand because Peter and John had special spiritual power of their own. Jesus Christ of Nazareth healed him, and Peter made sure everybody knew it. God’s supernatural work should never make much of human beings; it should make Jesus impossible to ignore. [59:25]
- 3. Critics cannot stop God’s work. The leaders admitted that a notable sign had happened, yet they still tried to silence the name of Jesus. Opposition often comes because Christ interferes with somebody’s power, lifestyle, or livelihood. God’s work continues when believers listen to God rather than surrendering to human pressure. [66:35]
- 4. Repentance opens the door to life. The same crowds that had cried for Jesus to be crucified could still be cut to the heart and turn to Him. The resurrection proved who Jesus was, and the Spirit brought people to repentance rather than leaving them in their guilt. No past rebellion places a person beyond the transforming mercy of Christ. [69:40]
- 5. Love can carry truth into darkness. Jesus is the answer for people imprisoned by drugs, alcohol, and every other form of sin. Arguments alone do not bring people into God’s kingdom, but Spirit-filled love can show them that God sees them, cares for them, and can change them. The name of Jesus must not be kept quiet when lives are hanging in the balance.
