#becomingLikeJesus
“``we are becoming like Jesus, we began to look like Jesus. More importantly, for what we're talking about today, we began to act like Jesus. Jesus died for you and for me, but he also died for his enemies. When we are becoming like him, then we learn to love in a supernatural way. When we do good to our enemies, we're like Jesus. When we bless those that curse us, we are like Jesus. When we pray for those who abuse us, we are like Jesus. becoming like Jesus is our reward.”

#HolySpiritEnablesLove
“The question is how can any of us live up to this? Because I've already said it. It's hard. And if it's not hard for you, you're either much more like Jesus than I am or you've never actually really had someone that hated you because it can be hard. How can we love our enemies? Well, again, I want to suggest that in and of ourselves it is not possible because it's not natural. I don't think any of us will ever love someone that is trying to harm us without the Holy Spirit being on our side. But isn't that the good news? Can we praise God? Because with our new birth in Jesus Christ, he has set up residence in our life. The Holy Spirit is with us on a daily basis to guide us, to teach us, to educate us, and to help us live our life like Jesus.”

#TreatOthersRegardless
“Jesus says this is how we're to treat people. And here's the issue. It's in not in regard to how they treat us. How let me let me rephrase that. How we treat others is not determined by how they treat us. Man, if our society could grab a hold of that because we're much more of a society that's an eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth kind of a thing. You insult me, I'm gonna insult you back. But Jesus says, this is not kingdom love. This is not supernatural love.”

#AgapeIsSacrificialLove
“And then the other word they would use for love is agape, which you've probably heard before and this is a sacrificial love. Agape is not a natural love. It is a supernatural love. It's a supernatural love because it's not motivated by the merit of the one that's being loved, but is given to someone even if they don't want it, even if they don't accept it. Storge, Eros, Philea, these are natural loves that it's just kind of built into us, but it's also based on the other person accepting it. It's really hard to be friends with someone that doesn't want to be friends with you.”
