Day 1: The Lion of Judah vs. the Roaring Imitator

John wept when no one could open the scroll, but hope arrived as the elder declared Jesus alone holds the authority to unseal destiny. Two lions vie for influence: one offers counterfeit freedom through temptation, the other true victory through surrender. The enemy mimics Christ’s power but leaves chains instead of breaking them. Every choice to resist the imitation lion strengthens the true Lion’s reign. Victory begins when we recognize the difference between the thief’s empty promises and the Savior’s proven power. [46:07]

“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.” (1 Peter 5:8, NKJV)

Reflection: What “impossible burger” has tempted you recently—something promising satisfaction but leaving emptiness? How can you shift your focus to Christ’s faithfulness instead?

Day 2: Surrendering the Throne of Your Heart

The battle for your heart isn’t fought with swords but with subtle shifts of allegiance. Like the demon-possessed man in Gadara, we often trade temporary thrills for lasting bondage. Jesus’ authority breaks chains no human effort can touch, but only when we yield the throne. Every “no deal” to temptation is a “yes” to freedom. True worship starts when we stop negotiating with counterfeits and let the Lion claim His rightful place. [54:18]

“Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life.” (Proverbs 4:23, NKJV)

Day 3: Praise as God’s Love Language

Judah’s name means “praise,” and Jesus, the Lion from Judah’s tribe, responds to worship like a lion to scent. Praise isn’t a mood—it’s warfare that installs God’s throne in your chaos. Jehoshaphat’s singers won battles by prioritizing worship over weapons. When Paul and Silas praised at midnight, their chains fell not because circumstances changed, but because God’s presence shifted the atmosphere. Your praise declares who rules even when darkness lies. [01:09:57]

“But You are holy, enthroned in the praises of Israel.” (Psalm 22:3, NKJV)

Reflection: What situation feels like a “midnight” season for you? How can you intentionally praise God in it this week, even without visible breakthroughs?

Day 4: From Cub to King: The Lion’s Unfailing Promise

Jacob prophesied Judah’s scepter would remain until Shiloh—the Promised One—came. For 1,700 years, God’s word waited. The Lion who prevailed in Revelation began as a cub in Bethlehem’s manger, proving no delay negates divine promises. What Jacob declared, John saw fulfilled: the Lamb’s scars confirm the Lion’s victory. If God kept His word across millennia, He’ll honor His promises to you. Timing doesn’t weaken His faithfulness. “Judah is a lion’s whelp; from the prey, my son, you have gone up. He bows down, he lies down as a lion; and as a lion, who shall rouse him? The scepter shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh comes; and to Him shall be the obedience of the people.” (Genesis 49:9-10, NKJV)

Day 5: The Lamb Who Is the Lion

John heard “Lion” but saw a slain Lamb—the King who conquers through sacrifice. Unlike earthly rulers, Jesus wields authority through mercy, swapping condemnation for redemption. Aslan’s surrender in Narnia mirrors Christ’s: He let His mane be shorn to save traitors. The Lion’s roar shakes hell, but His scars silence accusations. Surrender to Him isn’t weakness—it’s aligning with the only Ruler who transforms graves into gardens. [01:24:49]

“But one of the elders said to me, ‘Do not weep. Behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has prevailed to open the scroll and to loose its seven seals.’ Then I saw a Lamb as though it had been slain, standing in the midst of the throne.” (Revelation 5:5-6, NKJV)

Sermon Summary

Revelation 5 pulls back the curtain on the throne room of God. The scroll sits in the right hand of the One on the throne, sealed with seven seals, and the strong angel asks the question that makes heaven search itself, “Who is worthy?” No one in heaven, on earth, or under the earth can open it, so John weeps much. Then the elder says, “Do not weep,” because the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has prevailed.

The Lion on the throne is Jesus, King of kings and Lord of lords. He rules over kings, kingdoms, sickness, demons, depression, darkness, and every enemy that tries to come into a life. Nobody voted Him in, and nobody can vote Him out. The real question becomes who is ruling on the throne of the heart.

The devil is only “like” a roaring lion. Jesus is the Lion. The enemy has always been an imitator, because his original desire was God’s throne. Since God cannot be overthrown in heaven, the enemy fights for the one throne he can still try to sit on, the throne of the heart. Temptation comes looking like a deal, like an impossible burger with grill marks and a counterfeit promise, but it cannot deliver what only God gives. One lion is advocate, the other is adversary. One brings life, the other steals, kills, and destroys.

The Lion demands willful allegiance. Revelation shows elders falling down, not at gunpoint, but because He is worthy. Jesus has power to make every knee bow, yet He still knocks on the door of the heart. A no to Jesus becomes a yes to the counterfeit lion. The man in the Gadarenes shows what the counterfeit produces, naked, bleeding, chained, and living among tombs. One word from Jesus did what a thousand chains could not do.

The Lion comes from Judah, the tribe whose name means praise. Jacob’s prophecy pointed to Shiloh, the One whose right it is to rule. God kept that word across generations, because a promise from God is not a maybe. Praise becomes God’s love language, not because praise makes Him king, but because praise enthrones His presence in the middle of the circumstance. Jehoshaphat sent singers before soldiers, and Paul and Silas turned midnight into a throne room.

The Lion is also the Lamb. John hears “Lion” and sees a Lamb as though slain. Jesus conquers like a Lion by dying like a Lamb. He is King, Priest, and Sacrifice all wrapped up in one, the only One who can rule the life, bring the soul to God, and pay for sin. The only right response is crowns down, rooms opened, and full surrender to the One who is worthy of it all.

Our praise doesn't make the earth his footstool. But our praise determines whether God's presence is in the midst of our circumstance. He is enthroned in the praises of Israel. See, every time you praise, you are putting the imitation enemy on notice. You don't reign here. God does. You don't rule in my marriage. You don't rule in my health. You don't rule in my family. Even in heaven, everything in heaven is still willful. It's not obligated. God wants us to be there. God wants us to see him as king. A lot of people get stuck on the meek and lowly Jesus and completely miss the lion Jesus. They like the baby in the manger and the meek and mild Jesus because he makes no demands and he fits in their pocket. But but the Jesus of Revelation is the king of kings and lord of lords. He rules and he reigns. He has no rival. He has no equal. And when John saw this Jesus, the same John that put his head on his chest in the gospel is now bowing at his feet. This is not a God we bargain for with. This is a God we bow before.”

You and I have to make a determination that nobody is gonna sit on the throne of our heart but Jesus.”

“Too many people, stuff starts happening, and all of a sudden their faith faith starts staggering. Because they don't realize with God a promise is not a maybe. I'm preaching to somebody right now. Too many people stuff starts happening, and your faith starts to teeter totter because you don't understand when God says something, God is not suggesting it. God is not hoping for it. God is declaring it. And where the word of a king is, there is power. When God speaks it, it's gotta come to pass.”

“The scepter is the rod of a king. Judah was marked as the royal tribe. The tribe from which the kings of Israel would come. From Judah came David, the shepherd king. From David came Solomon and the whole royal line. But notice Jacob said, the scepter will not depart from Judah until Shiloh comes. Shiloh means, he who's right it is. The one the scepter actually belongs to. In other words, every king from Judah was just keeping the seat warm until the king, the Messiah, the root of David came. So when the elders say, the lion of the tribe of Judah, the root of David. He is saying, Shiloh has come. The promised lion of Genesis is now the prevailing lion in the book of Revelation.”

“Tell you what irritates the devil. When you put a throne in the middle of a dark place in your life. And you know they begin to sing, and they begin to praise, and you know what happens? All of a sudden God hears his love language. And when God hears his love language, what happens? He is attracted. The throne the the the God of the throne is attracted to the throne that is set up, and he hears that, and all of a sudden the chains that seem to bind them drop powerless behind them. Why? Because they praised him in the middle of the situation. I'll tell you what, don't let your chains break your praise. Let your praise break your chains.”

“God or Mammon, who sits on the throne of your finances? Does your money serve God or do you serve your money? Who's on the throne of your life? And we can broaden that. God herself. Jesus said, if anyone desires to come after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross daily and follow me. Who wins when God's word and your wants collide? Who's on the throne of your life? God or pleasure. The bible warns of those who are lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God who's on the throne of your life. God or the approval of people. Paul said, if I still pleased men, I would not be a bond servant of Christ whose opinion rules your decisions.”

“Your prayers and your praise rise before the throne like incense. In other words, they have a fragrance. And if a natural lion can smell a fragrance five miles away and has to get to the scene and release a scent anointing, What do you think happens when the praise and the prayer of a child of God reaches the throne of God? God says, gotta get down there and release a scent anointing.”

“Who's on the throne of your life? The enemy is after the throne of our heart. He suddenly slides things onto the throne, a bank account, a career, a relationship, a habit, a screen, an image. Because the devil is the master advertiser. He's been running commercials ever since the Garden of Eden. And he never shows you the bondage, he always shows you the billboard. It's like the impossible burger. Y'all remember that? The impossible I don't think it's around no more. I think it it it just it didn't sell. Even though it looked like beef. So, I think it had grill marks on it and everything. Right? Looked like beef. It it smelled like big beef. They even made made it bleed like beef. I mean, they try to make it look as much like a burger as a pasta, but it wasn't the real deal. And here's what the enemy comes along and tries all the time. He tries to give us these counterfeit things, these imitation things that promise us what God wants to give us in our lives if we do things his way, but they never do measure up. Like sex outside of marriage, it advertises intimacy, but it can't deliver covenant. The the bottle, it advertises relief, but it delivers dependence. The advertising is always intriguing. It looks good until it's not. Don't fall for the imitation. Stick with the real thing. God's ways are also always better.”

“And Jacob's prophecy began, Judah, you are the one whom your brother shall praise. The lion on the throne comes from the tribe whose very name means praise. Why is this important? Because God has a love language. And you know what love languages are? Some of y'all, it's affection. Some of y'all, it's affirmation. Some of y'all, it's words of kindness. It's all of these things. Right? And when we get married, we get stupid. We do. Because we fight against our spouse's love language. And we wonder why our marriages aren't what God wants them to be. When in fact, we just ought to get smart and speak their language. Because when you speak your spouse's love language, there's nothing that your spouse won't do in return. And God has a love language. Yours may be affirmation. Yours might be affection. Your yours might be acts of kindness. You know what God's is? It's praise. Praise is God's love language.”
