#ContentmentInGod
“``You know, there's actually no rule that says that a devout follower of God is gonna have more money. When greed becomes a motivation in your life, your agenda takes over and you need to stop it. Godliness does not give financial gain, but it itself is gained when it's accompanied with contentment. the word that's used and it means self sufficiency. But yet the sufficiency of oneself is due to the sufficiency of God. Godliness combined with that inner given God given self sufficiency, which does not depend on material circumstances, the opposite of the false teacher's gain, is indeed of great gain.”

#JesusModeledHumility
“And then we can look at Jesus' life because he doesn't just call us to it, he modeled it perfectly for all of us. He surrendered his status in heaven and came down to earth to be the bottom of the barrel there. He came down as a baby. And then he grew up and allowed people to abuse him, to say bad things about him, to hurt him. But all the while, he lived a perfect godly life. And he taught us ways that we can do this as well. And then his fight was a fight of faith. It wasn't a fight of flesh and and and pulling out a sword on people, but he shed his blood so that we could have real life, so that we could have faith that gave us wholeness in our life.”

#TrustJesusNotStatus
“Being rich to achieve status, to have people look at you differently, to see the car you drive, the house you live in, the food you eat. I'm being honest, sometimes the Disney trip I go on, I wanna go on so people can be like, oh, he has it so good. That must have been awesome. It feels good when you get to do these things and people are jealous of you, but that is so dangerous. Wealth for the sake of wealth. Money for the sake of money. Not people looking at you and thinking you have it, but not seeing how missing the contentment in your life really is. Because your struggle and desire for more has left you incapable of filling that void, the only trust in Jesus can do. A full reliance on the sufficiency that comes from godliness.”

#PursueGodliness
“We allow greed, we allow envy, we allow jealousy to slip in and it gets us right back to where we started. So flee and run from jealousy, from from greed, from the love of money, from wealth for the sake of wealth. And chase godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness, and the other fruits of the spirit. Because these virtues don't show up in your life by accident. They show up because you're starting to chase after them. You're starting to look at them and say, I need these in my life. I'm gonna fight for them because I wanna fight the good fight of the faith. You need to start prioritizing them and surrendering to this fight because this fight is for all of us.”

#InvestInGodliness
“When it comes to our finances, we learn to take a new posture, one that pursues godliness before pursuing our next big financial deal or investment or overtime shift? Can we strive for patience and faithfulness and truth and love and hope and gentleness and godliness the way we strive to work harder to pay the bills to save up money for the next vacation because so many people are willing to take an extra shift and do the extra work in order to get more. But how often do you sacrifice that same amount of time to pursue more godliness in your life? If you're willing to sacrifice it to gain wealth, why aren't you willing to sacrifice it to gain godliness? And again, it doesn't mean you can't get more, but you need to get more godliness first. So today, in this room, think about that. Where is the love of money rooted inside of you, and how has it been affecting you? And are you willing to say no to greed and allow the Holy Spirit to change your life and to bring you contentment?”

#FightTheGoodFight
“This morning, can you go all in and surrender yourself to the good fight of faith? So often, find we get into fights and battles that just take away our energy and pull us away from God. But he asked us to prepare ourselves for two things. One, for the return of the king someday, for the Lord of Lords and the King of Kings to come back. But also for now, to enlist in his service until he does return.”

#StartWithThankfulness
“And Paul wants us to understand that there are all kinds of good things in this world. Things for us to enjoy, we should have enough to have food on our tables, should have a place to live, roof over our head, we should have clothes to wear, we should enjoy the moments with our families, But it also starts with thankfulness. That's where it all starts. It doesn't start with getting more. It starts with thanking God for what you already have. It starts with that being the key to contentment.”

#GuardAgainstIdolatry
“Because, man, do we ever have a problem with greed in our lives. Or maybe it is just me that has this, but the antidote to how we're feeling is to be grateful. The love of money slips in constantly. Maybe it is just me and maybe I'm only preaching to myself, but the love of money is so dangerous. Have you ever thought about the man made concept of money itself? Something that didn't exist when the world was created. It wasn't a resource. It wasn't there. Money was created as a way that we could exchange goods, make that easier, and the process to be just flow better, and it does work that way. But the further it becomes removed from the goods themselves and the more it becomes a good in itself, the closer we come to idolatry.”
