#TrustTheFaithfulCreator
“``And notice who we are trusting in, a faithful creator. God made us, he knows us, he sees what we're going through, and he is faithful. But Peter doesn't just stop there. He says we're to commit ourselves to God in well doing. Keep doing what is right, keep serving, keep obeying, Keep following Christ despite the suffering. Don't allow suffering to be an excuse to abandon your faithfulness to God. The answer to suffering isn't to figure out why this is happening. It's trust God and keep doing what is right. So when suffering comes because we're doing what's right, don't be surprised, don't be ashamed. Rejoice in the fact that you belong to Christ. Look forward to the glory that is coming. And even if you don't understand in the moment what God is doing, entrust yourself to him and keep doing what is right.”

#SufferWithChristHope
“And he's not telling us that pain is enjoyable or that we should pretend that difficult things aren't difficult. He's pointing us toward a different perspective. When we suffer because we are faithfully following God, we are experiencing something that Jesus himself went through. And we know that our present suffering isn't the end of the story. Peter says that when his glory shall be revealed, he may be glad also with exceeding joy. And that's the perspective that we need to have. Christ is coming in glory, and those who belong to him will share in it. So instead of seeing suffering and thinking that God may have abandoned you, we can recognize that trials are a part of following Christ, and we can endure them with confidence because we know that Jesus is coming.”

#CommitToGodsCare
“And that first word there, wherefore, it means because of everything that I've just told you, this is what you should do. If we know suffering is gonna be a part of following Christ and that our faith is gonna be tested, then what do we do? Well, we need to entrust ourselves to God. That phrase there, commit the keeping of their souls to him. It means to put ourselves in God's care, to put our lives in his hands and trust him. And Peter doesn't tell us that we need to understand every reason that God allows us to suffer. Instead, he tells us to trust the one who does know.”

#LiveToGlorifyGod
“But the question we should ask ourselves is, is what I'm doing pleasing God? Does it honor him? Because at the end of the day, our lives aren't about pleasing ourselves or the world. Our lives are about living in a way that brings glory to God. Every choice we make, how we act, how we speak, what we watch or what we listen to, should be done with the goal of honoring him. Because if it doesn't please God, then we're living for ourselves and not for him. Living for God is hard, but and it means suffering, standing against the crowd and saying no to what the world is doing.”

#FaithDoesntEliminateTrials
“Some people have this idea in their head that Christianity is supposed to make life easier. You know, that's that's kinda true. If practiced properly, Christianity makes the difficulties of life more bearable and the joyful moments in life, well, more full. However, some teach that being a Christian takes away the difficulties in life entirely. Some go so far as to teach that God will grant riches, health, and good times to those who are good Christians. And this passage that we're gonna be looking at today, first Peter chapter four, teaches the exact opposite. It teaches us that Christians will suffer. Jesus said it himself. He said that life is gonna be hard for those who follow him. He couldn't have been much more clear.”

#RefinedByFieryTrials
“And he calls it a fiery trial using fire as a picture of testing and refining. When metal, precious metal is put through fire, the purpose isn't simply to destroy it, it's to test it and remove its impurities. And in that same way, God uses suffering in our lives to test our faith. It reveals what we're truly trusting in trusting in and can ultimately strengthen us. Peter says that this fiery trial is to try us. And this shouldn't surprise us when we consider the example that Jesus himself gave us.”

#PeaceInTheEndTimes
“have control over your thoughts, have control over your emotions, have control over your prayers. And why does he say that? He says in verse seven, but the end of all things is at hand. So, essentially, doomsday is coming, relax. That doesn't make much sense, but as Christians, the end is a good thing because the end refers to the second coming of Jesus Christ. So he says, okay. One through six, verses one through six, we're going to suffer. As Christians, that's a given. the end of all things at hand, Jesus is coming back. So relax, take a breath, you're gonna be okay. And so he gives us a mindset of like, okay, we're gonna suffer, but keep your peace.”

#GloryThroughTrials
“In other words, when tribulations come, we ought to glory in them instead of moping in them. Well, why? Because we know that through them, God is working on us and with us. The trial teaches us to be patient with with what God is doing. The patience gives us the experience that God is faithful and carries us through our trials. The experience of God's faithfulness then tells us that when we are in our trials, we can have hope that God is going to pull us through it. When we have that hope, we don't mutter. We don't complain. It doesn't make us ashamed.”
