#SubmitToOneAnother
“You see, we can defer not just to leaders, but to one another, to each other. Now this verse often gets overlooked because the next verse says, wives, submit to your husbands. The very next verse after Ephesians six twenty one Or sorry, Ephesians five twenty one. Ephesians five twenty one sets up the wives submit to your husband by saying, submit to one another. It's a mutual, voluntary submission to another person. And why do we do it? Why should I submit to the person next to me? Out of reverence for Christ. You see, you're not submitting to the other person at church. You're submitting to Christ in the other person at church. Render to what is God's. You see, when we submit, when we yield, when we defer to the preferences of another person, we are deferring to the image of God that is on another person.”

#DeferToServe
“``This week, practice deferring. Obey the government. Support, follow, and honor your church leaders. Let someone go first and have their way. Defer to them. You see, this isn't weakness. It's Christ like character. Scripture says Jesus didn't come to be served, but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many. The next three weeks are gonna be on the topic of serve. What it means to serve. When we defer to someone else out of reverence for Christ, we learn the humility that Christ himself lived.”

#SubmitToGod
“So how do we overcome this battle? It's not just a conflict between me and you or you and your spouse or you and your neighbor. This is a conflict that is raging inside of us. It's a battle within us. And James tells us how we can overcome this. How do we overcome it? It's by submitting ourselves to God, resisting the devil, and he will flee. Submit to God. The word submit throughout this message is in the Greek, hypotasso. Say, hypotasso. Hypotasso. So hypo, you know what that means. Right? Hyper means over exaggerated a lot. Hypo is under, less. Tasso means to designate, decide, or determine. So submitting means determining to be less.”

#HumblePractice
“This is a spiritual practice that we have to choose to do. You don't enter into a situation with a law enforcement officer and go, wow. I was accidentally so humble. What usually happens is at the end of it, we go, man, I should've humbled myself. You see, pride is our default. But what submission is it teaches us to be humble. Submission disciplines our body like a spiritual workout where we make a choice to say, I am going to let someone else have their way. That's what submission is.”
