Stripped Bare and Primed for God's Restoration

God’s call to bring people to Jesus and Jesus to people starts in ordinary conversations. The church’s stories show that a question about camp, a doctor visit, or an echocardiogram can become an opening to speak about Christ. God desires people to know Him, and simple faithfulness can spark the next question.

The picture of an old tractor becomes a picture of a life that God wants to restore. A tractor stripped bare reveals everything that paint and parts used to cover. God wants hearts stripped bare too, not to shame them, but so hidden divots, rough places, attitudes, addictions, unforgiveness, and sin can finally be seen and repaired.

Primer exposes what the eye missed. God’s searching work exposes flaws that have become normal, convenient, or easy to excuse. The danger is becoming a “50 footer,” looking alright from a distance while the close-up reveals that everything has only been painted over. Christ does not call people merely to wonder whether they are still going to heaven. Christ calls them closer, cleaner, freer, and fully His.

Restoration comes at a cost. The right paint costs more than the easy way out, and the refining process can hurt. God’s work may feel painful when someone lovingly points out what is real, when accountability presses against pride, or when growth makes life feel dull before it shines again. The flesh wants to throw the issue back on somebody else, but the Spirit produces patience, peace, kindness, and humility in the moment of correction.
