“``See, the miracle that Jesus offers us is not a body at rest. He offers a miracle. He says, you can have a soul at rest inside a body in motion. This is wild what he promises. I mean, think about that. What would life feel like if you were to go through all of your life? You were to do the things, you were to show up, you were to meet your responsibilities, but the whole time your soul was at rest. That's the promise. He actually says he will give you that rest, but here's the catch. He will only give you the rest when you give him the outcomes. When you trust him with the weight of the things beyond your control that you're not meant to carry, you have to give him the outcomes and then he'll give you the rest. You can't wear him on your back.”

“The word lowly means a station in life. It's the same word that Paul uses in Romans twelve sixteen when he says, don't associate with the hottie, but associate with the lowly. It's the lowest person on the totem pole. It's the person who if you were going somewhere, you would have them carry all the bags. And Jesus says, that's me. That's my heart. This is the crazy gospel. We sang earlier the song about he's holy, he's exalted, he's above all. And that's true. The one with all the power, all the might in the universe, the one with the right to lord over you instead to serve under you, to put himself lower than you, to carry the weight of your life.”

“He was always saying this in his ministry, and no one was understanding. He said it to his disciples over and over and over again. Even at the very last meal that he had with him, the last supper, he said the same thing to them. Matthew twenty twenty eight. He said, the son of man, him, not come to be served but to serve. From the foundation of your relationship with God is not how much you will serve him. It starts with how much you'll let him serve Will you let him carry the weight of your life? Will you hand it to him? Because he won't reach in and take it. You gotta give it to him.”

“Now in a a bizarre way, a heavy laden life has become like a a modern merit badge. It's how we know we're doing life right. I mean, imagine if somebody came up to you and you said, hey. How are you doing? And they said, great. My life feels pretty, pretty easy, pretty light. You would think that person was a loser. You would be like, what's wrong with you? You're clearly a slacker. You're clearly not a hard worker. So we think that we're doing it right if we feel this stress, if we feel the weight of it. And the reason for that is because we've got a weight of expectations on us that doesn't come from Jesus. The weight is expectations. And the one who sets the weight of expectations is the one you work for, the one who defines your win.”
