Steps to Transformative Prayer: Cleansing, Forgiveness, and Victory
Summary
In today's exploration of the Lord's Prayer, we delved into the profound steps Jesus outlined for us to follow in our prayer life. We began by focusing on the prayer of cleansing, where we admit our faults and seek God's forgiveness. This step is crucial as it allows us to spiritually clean house, acknowledging our sins and shortcomings before God. It's a reminder that God desires us to be free from guilt and shame, and the path to that freedom is through confession. God knows our sins better than we do, and He promises instant, free, complete, and permanent forgiveness when we confess.
We then moved to the prayer of release, where we forgive those who have wronged us. This is often the hardest part, as forgiveness is not about fairness but about grace. We are reminded of the immense forgiveness we have received from God and are called to extend that same grace to others. Holding onto resentment only perpetuates pain, while releasing it leads to inner peace.
Next, we discussed the prayer of protection, asking God to guard our hearts against temptation. Temptation is not just about doing wrong but also about failing to do right. We must be vigilant against the subtle temptations of convenience, comfort, and procrastination, seeking God's strength to do what is right.
The prayer of deliverance follows, where we depend on God's power to rescue us from evil. In moments of overwhelming pressure or attack, we call on God for help, trusting in His power to deliver us.
Finally, we concluded with the prayer of victory, praising God for His ultimate triumph. The Lord's Prayer begins and ends with glorifying God, reminding us that prayer is an act of worship. The purpose of prayer is to align our lives with God's kingdom, power, and glory, leading to a life filled with His blessings.
Key Takeaways:

Day 1: Confession as Spiritual Cleansing
Confession is a vital step in our spiritual journey, allowing us to acknowledge our sins and seek God's forgiveness. It is not about informing God of our wrongdoings, as He already knows them, but about freeing ourselves from the burden of guilt and shame. By confessing, we open ourselves to God's grace, which cleanses us and restores our relationship with Him. This act of humility and honesty is the first step towards spiritual renewal and growth. [03:31]

Day 2: Grace-Filled Forgiveness
Forgiveness is a profound act of grace, not fairness. We are called to forgive others as God has forgiven us, releasing the pain and resentment that can bind us. This act of grace leads to inner peace and reflects God's love in our lives. By forgiving, we not only free others but also ourselves, allowing God's peace to reign in our hearts. [08:48]

"Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak." (Matthew 26:41, ESV)

Quotes
now we move to step number six in Jesus pattern of prayer and it is this I admit my faults and this part of prayer is the prayer of cleansing and confession should be a part of every one of your prayers where you come to God and you you spiritually clean house now Jesus teaches the prayer of cleansing in the next phrase forgive us our sins some translations say transfer trespasses some say debts but the word actually just simply means our our sins and Jesus teaches us to pray forgive us our sins [00:01:11]
do you know that God does not want you feeling guilty most people who run from God run out of guilt or out of pride and that leads both those can lead to fear they fear God when you feel guilty many people think God wants me to feel guilty all the time the Bible doesn't teach that in fact the Bible teaches the exact opposite God wants you to feel free but the only way you're gonna be free from guilt from shame from regret is to confess just to own up to it [00:02:15]
God already knows all your sins but he promises that if you'll simply admit your sins to him he will forgive you instantly he will forgive you freely he will forgive you completely and he will forgive you permanently that's good news friends that's what grace is all about God's forgiveness this instant free complete and permanent you are only one breath away from having a clean house in your life in your heart [00:03:14]
I release those who have hurt me I forgive those who have done injustice against me and I call this the prayer of release Jesus teaches us to pray forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us that's the condition now you know as well as I do that's the hardest part of the Lord's Prayer to pray it's easy to ask God for forgiveness it's hard to offer forgiveness to somebody else [00:06:22]
forgiveness is not about fairness forgiveness is about grace it's not fair that God forgave you but he did and and it's it's not based on fairness if you got what you deserved you wouldn't get God's grace so here's the first key to learning how to forgive other people you just have to remember how much you've been forgiven by God every time I choke on letting go of resentment I got to remember my regrets that God forgot [00:07:21]
you're gonna be hurt in life because the world is full of sinners I want your one everybody else's too sometimes you hurt intentionally sometimes unintentionally and when you are hurt and you'll be hurting many times in life you only have two options you can either relive the pain or you can't release the pain what do you want to do when you release it you let it go [00:09:53]
reliving a hurt only perpetuates the pain but releasing the hurt and forgiving the offender is the path to inner peace this is the key to peace of mind you know Jesus said blessed are the merciful for they will be shown mercy you want mercy in your life that you need to show it no matter how often that painful memory keeps coming back in your mind and it will until you until finally wears away from your forgiveness [00:10:38]
temptation is not just the lure to do something bad temptation is also about not doing the right thing you can be tempted to not do the right thing out of convenience or comfort or a lot of other things there are sins of commission sins that we do and sins of omission because we don't do the right thing now our comfort can be just as dangerous as our catastrophes and the failures in keeping us off track from going God's way [00:13:36]
when you are overwhelmed when you're under attack when you are falsely accused when you're mistreated by other people who do you turn to you try to defend yourself or you trust in God to deliver you you think you've it's to be it's up to me and I'm gonna I'm gonna get even all I'll defend myself in the prayer of deliverance you're asking God to help you it can actually be boiled down to just one word this prayer deliverance help [00:16:54]
the purpose of prayer is is to conform me to his plan to his power to his purpose the purpose of prayer is to align my life with the kingdom and the power and the glory of God life gets a whole lot easier when you do that when I learned to seek God's kingdom seek first king of God all these other things will be added unto you when I learned to depend on God's power depend on me when I learned to live for God's glory [00:23:06]
when you live your life for the glory of God there is almost nothing that God will not do for the man or woman who is committed to the glory of God now that we've learned what each phrase of the Lord's Prayer means I hope you will never see this prayer in the same light anymore it's not a ritual it's not a incantation it is a model remember that Jesus didn't say this what to pray he said it's how you pray [00:23:58]
our father in heaven hallowed be your name your kingdom come you will be done on earth as it is in heaven give us this day our daily bread forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil for yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever amen that's a prayer to not just pray but to build your life on [00:25:55]
