The ripple effects of our daily faithfulness, our forgiveness, you know, spirit filled behavior can have a ripple effect that we would may never know where it goes. So what can we take from this? This unique moment in human history. Stephen was a unique man, one of the greatest men to have lived despite it being a brief life. If he were here, what would Stephen tell us to do? He would tell us all, I think, to believe in Jesus for the forgiveness of our sins. He was really sure of that. God had provided one way of salvation through his only begotten son. And Stephen knew that. And he would point us towards Jesus shedding his blood on the cross that we might have eternal life. Believe in him. Trust in him. It's the same message that Stephen was preaching in those synagogues synagogues.”

“Stephen was full of God's spirit. So if we are being honest, could you say that you always feel full of God's spirit? What are you full of? I think sometimes, if I'm honest, I'm not so much full of God's spirit as I am full of perhaps irrational fears or medical anxiety, perhaps some people health anxiety, or perhaps sometimes we are full of resentment. Anyone struggle with a little bit of resentment? Or perhaps I'm just really full of crisps. I'm often quite full of crisps. So I definitely need to work on being full of the spirit in the way that Steven is. But Steven is a man who is so full of the spirit that if you picture him like a cup of coffee that's completely full, if you pour more coffee on top of that, it's just gonna spill over. So whatever you pour in will overflow, and it's the same spiritually, isn't it? So, if we are being squeezed by life, whatever fills us spills out.”

“So, sometimes we might have moments where we're being squeezed by all the circumstances we're facing and we notice that under pressure, anger is coming out. Right? We've shouted at our children. We've snapped at somebody in the office. Anger's coming out under pressure. And perhaps we're filled with fear, and during a time of uncertainty, we're just gripped with night terrors and we can sense that, okay, we're full of fear right now. Or perhaps you are somebody who is just filled with Christ as we all hope to be, and Christ comes out during difficulties. So Stephen is somebody who is not suddenly spiritual when the persecution arrives. He's already full of the spirit before crisis happens. The pressure simply revealed what was already inside of Stephen.”
