Steadfast Faith: Embracing God's Promises in Every Season
Summary
In today's message, we explored the metaphor of a metronome as a symbol of consistency and faithfulness in our walk with Christ. Just as a metronome keeps time unaffected by external chaos, our faith should remain steadfast regardless of life's storms. Reflecting on the past year, I shared personal experiences that tested my resilience and faith, from coaching a chaotic softball team to enduring illness during a youth trip, and facing the loss of a dear friend. These experiences, though challenging, were opportunities to witness God's faithfulness and promises.
We then turned our attention to the story of Simeon in the Gospel of Luke. Simeon, described as righteous and devout, lived a life led by the Holy Spirit, waiting for the consolation of Israel. His story teaches us the importance of anticipating God's promises, prioritizing the Holy Spirit's guidance, and embracing our current season of life. Simeon's faithfulness and trust in God's promises serve as a model for us as we look forward to 2025.
As we prepare for the new year, we are encouraged to keep in time with God's rhythm, allowing His Spirit to guide our decisions and actions. This involves practical steps like maintaining a prayer journal to remember God's faithfulness, seeking the Holy Spirit's guidance in daily life, and engaging with a community of believers for support and growth. By doing so, we can navigate the uncertainties of life with confidence, knowing that God's promises are true and His plans for us are greater than we can imagine.

Day 1: Steadfast Faith in Life's Chaos
In the midst of life's unpredictable storms, maintaining a steadfast faith is crucial. Just as a metronome keeps perfect time regardless of external noise, our faith should remain unwavering despite the chaos around us. This consistency in faith allows us to navigate life's challenges with resilience and hope. Reflecting on personal experiences, such as coaching a chaotic softball team or enduring illness, can serve as reminders of God's faithfulness and promises. By trusting in God's unwavering presence, we can find peace and strength to face any storm. [34:40]
Isaiah 26:3-4 (ESV): "You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord God is an everlasting rock."
Reflection: Think of a recent chaotic situation in your life. How can you intentionally keep your faith steady and trust in God's promises during such times?
Day 2: Anticipating God's Promises
The story of Simeon in the Gospel of Luke illustrates the importance of holding tightly to God's promises, even when the path is unclear. Simeon, described as righteous and devout, lived a life led by the Holy Spirit, waiting for the consolation of Israel. His anticipation of God's promises teaches us to remain hopeful and expectant, even when we cannot see the full picture. Keeping a prayer journal can help us remember God's faithfulness and anticipate His work in our lives, reinforcing our trust in His timing and plans. [47:39]
Hebrews 10:23 (ESV): "Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful."
Reflection: What is one promise from God that you are currently waiting to see fulfilled? How can you actively remind yourself of His faithfulness as you wait?
Day 3: Prioritizing the Holy Spirit's Guidance
Allowing the Holy Spirit to guide our decisions and actions can transform our lives and communities. Simeon's life exemplifies the power of living in tune with the Spirit, as he was led to the temple at the right moment to witness the fulfillment of God's promise. By seeking the Holy Spirit's guidance daily, we can align ourselves with God's will and make a meaningful impact in the world for Christ. This involves being open to the Spirit's leading and trusting that His guidance will direct us on the right path. [49:25]
Galatians 5:25 (ESV): "If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit."
Reflection: In what area of your life do you need to seek the Holy Spirit's guidance more intentionally? What steps can you take today to invite His leading?
Day 4: Embracing Your Season of Life
Recognizing the unique opportunities and challenges of your current season is essential for spiritual growth. Like Simeon, who faithfully awaited God's promise, we are called to embrace our present circumstances and trust that God has placed us where we are for a purpose. This involves being open to God's leading and finding contentment in our current season, knowing that He is working through us in ways we may not yet understand. By embracing our season, we can experience God's presence and purpose more fully. [51:12]
Ecclesiastes 3:1 (ESV): "For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven."
Reflection: What unique opportunities or challenges are present in your current season of life? How can you embrace them with faith and trust in God's purpose for you?
Day 5: Making Every Moment Matter
Time is fleeting, and every day is an opportunity to live for God's glory. Engaging with your community, serving others, and making the most of the time God has given you are vital aspects of a faithful life. Simeon's story reminds us that every moment is significant, and we are called to use our time wisely to impact the world for Christ. By prioritizing our relationship with God and others, we can ensure that our lives reflect His love and purpose. [53:20]
Ephesians 5:15-16 (ESV): "Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil."
Reflection: How can you make the most of your time today to serve God and others? What specific actions can you take to ensure that every moment counts for His glory?
Quotes
Our lives should reflect that same thing within our walk with Christ. No matter what the storms of life may throw at us, no matter what may happen around us, no matter where we may be. No matter where we may be located or any of the things that are going on, it doesn't influence the fact that we firmly trust in the promises that are true that God has given us. [00:33:37]
And in being just in 30s, like, you know, that's not normal. We don't just normally see that. But as I get the phone call that tells me this happened, I could just feel the wave just hit me of depression and the questions and the thoughts. But as I get the phone call that tells me this happened, I could just feel the wave just hit me of depression and the thoughts. Or his promise is true. Are they real? Are they going to be able to see me through this moment? [00:36:05]
So this this this book of Luke is written by. A doctor, his name, Luke, and so Dr. Luke is writing this book. And as he writes this book, he's writing. He's going back in time. So he's actually already progressed through in time. And so this isn't at the given time of what Jesus is actually going through at that moment. He's actually corroborated with a bunch of different people and actually gotten evidence of all the different things. So some people who don't even believe in Jesus actually look to this book as historical evidence for the things that happened in that day and time. So just in case you didn't know that this book has a lot of backing to it. That is actually super able to be stood upon and grounded in factual evidence. [00:38:14]
So righteous, same man in front of, always same man in front of you and behind you. He would have been the same one. Then also he was devoted to God fully. This is the only time in scripture itself in the NIV Bible that is actually described with both of those words at the exact same time to describe one guy. [00:42:54]
I believe that in this point, we would be looking towards something that we could practically take away from that. What could you do now to be able to do something in this day and time? Well, I would say something like if you remembered all the things that God walked you through in 2024, you might be able to look at 2025 a little bit better. So maybe a prayer journal. [00:44:24]
Spirit led living. He was led by the Holy spirit to the temple that day. That means that he wouldn't have been just naturally going there. It wouldn't have been like a Sunday morning type thing. It would have been that it was some other form of the, some other day or something like that. It would have been that he was actually waiting for the spirit to move him. [00:45:25]
Let God direct your decisions and actions all year long in every way. What if you were to ask God to actually be with you and lead you in every single thing that you did for the rest of this next year? What if the next 365 days look totally different? And every single time you went to make a major decision before making that major decision, you actually prayed to God. [00:49:03]
I think that God really just wants you to be able to release and let go and allow him to be able to take 2025 and do what he wants to with, because I believe that our dreams are only so big and his dreams for you are so much more. [00:49:56]
Now, number three, I would say that the next thing would be that you need to embrace your season of life. Every single one of us are in a certain season, in a certain stage of life. And Simeon shows us because he would be an elderly man that would have come to the temple at that moment in time, he would have been able to grasp what it was to have to get up and be able to move, to go towards the temple, to actually then be led by the Holy Spirit. [00:51:12]
Teach us to number our days that we may gain a heart of wisdom. I believe that as the metronome also tells us, we may gain a heart of wisdom. We may gain a heart of wisdom. I believe that every second matters and counts. I believe that every single day of your life is supposed to be lived for God's glory. [00:53:40]
He found salvation in Christ that day and declared it among everybody there at that temple that morning. He said that out loud in front of everybody in his prayer. And he knew what he was saying because Christ had been revealed to him, which you have prepared in the sight of all people. Every single one of us that sits in this room today, he has prepared it before us right now for this moment. A light for revelations. To the Gentiles and for the glory to your people, Israel. [00:56:25]
Is it to hold him up and to glorify and praise him and his father in heaven for what he has done? Or is it for us to just let him slip through our fingers, just like time if we don't grasp it? This is that moment for you. And this is that moment for me. We all need him. [00:57:00]
