Every belief, decision, and perspective ultimately rests on an authority, and for the Christian, that authority must be the Word of God. In a world filled with competing worldviews, the contest is not between many, but fundamentally between two: the authority of self and the authority of God. This struggle is as old as humanity itself, stretching back to the garden and the rebellion of Lucifer. Today, the influence of “seducing spirits” and “doctrines of devils” is pervasive, infiltrating every aspect of culture—education, media, government, and even personal relationships. These influences subtly and overtly draw people away from the truth, leading to a departure from the faith, as Paul warned in 1 Timothy 4.
The erosion of Christian influence in society is not accidental but inevitable, as Scripture foretells. As the world drifts further from God, it becomes increasingly intolerant of Christian truth, and the freedoms once taken for granted—rooted in a biblical worldview—are rapidly diminishing. The rise of anti-Christian sentiment, judicial hypocrisy, and cultural confusion is evidence of a society disconnected from its spiritual foundation. The alarming trends we witness are not meant to incite fear, but to inform and prepare. Knowledge of what is coming equips believers to stand firm, rather than be swept away by the tide of cultural change.
Preparation for the coming challenges must happen now, not later. Delaying commitment to Christ only entrenches non-commitment for the future. Like the proverbial frog in the pot, subtle changes can lull believers into complacency, making them unprepared for the heat of persecution when it comes. The church, the Word, and the Spirit are God’s means of equipping His people to thrive in a hostile environment. As darkness increases, the light of Christ in believers is meant to shine all the brighter, but this requires greater resolve and unwavering commitment.
The decline in practicing Christianity is stark, and the absurdities now accepted in culture—such as the denial of basic truths about humanity—are symptoms of a society that has exchanged the truth of God for vain imaginations. Each generation faces greater challenges, and it is imperative to prepare ourselves and our children to stand firm. The uncompromising doctrines of assembling together, being grounded in the Word, and yielding to the Spirit are not optional—they are essential for survival and faithfulness in the days ahead.
1 Timothy 4:1-2 (ESV) — > Now the Spirit expressly says that in later times some will depart from the faith by devoting themselves to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons, through the insincerity of liars whose consciences are seared.
2 Corinthians 4:3-6 (ESV) — > And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing. In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. For what we proclaim is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, with ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake. For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
Romans 1:21-23 (ESV) — > For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Claiming to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things.
