Sermon Clips

We must avoid certain things because they tend to sap us of our energy and of our Vitality. We must avoid anything that is likely to make us lethargic or to make us ill or in any way despoil us of the new Power, the new life that is given us in the rebirth in Christ Jesus and by the dwelling of the Holy Spirit within us. [00:01:30]

There are many Christian people who seem to be disappointed when they find that the Christian Life is a fight, and they're suddenly taken back by this, and they're unhappy. They seem to have got the idea that the moment you become a Christian, you'll never have any problems anymore, you'll never have any difficulties, there'll be no fight, there'll be no struggle, they'll need to make no effort. [00:06:50]

We must recognize the inevitability of Trials and troubles and conflicts in this world because of the devil and because of sin and therefore whenever we find ourselves tending to be discouraged and to feel we've got a sense of complaint and a sense of Grudge that the Lord doesn't seem to be fulfilling his promises to us. [00:09:55]

As Christians, we should never feel sorry for ourselves. Now I'm making a general statement it doesn't matter what your position this morning doesn't matter what may be happening to us we must never feel sorry for ourselves because the moment you do, You've Lost Your energy you've lost the will to fight the will to live you paralyzed. [00:10:41]

Don't be half-hearted and uncertain. It's there in this word stand isn't it don't slouch if you like don't lean against your post stand at the post now this is a way of telling us that we must never be half-hearted or we must never be uncertain in the fight you see if you're doubtful about the Warfare you're engaged in you'll fight it very badly. [00:19:55]

The call to stand is a call to realize clearly what the position is in other words it's another way of telling us once more that we must remember what it means to be a Christian we must have a clear understanding of the Christian Life. You see the Church of God I believe is very largely as she is today because there are so many people still in her and members of her who don't quite know why they're why they're there. [00:21:13]

Know ye not that the Friendship of the world is enmity against God and it is the world is against God the world means life Outlook everything that is organized by the devil and his powers the rulers of the darkness of this world that's what it means very well now that's all together against God. [00:24:01]

Never even give a thought to possible Retreat having got rid of these things that prevent your standing properly will now go on never give even a thought to possible Retreat a general who's planning a campaign and looking back over his shoulder to possible Retreat he'll probably have to have to retreat is he's already defeated before he started in the battle. [00:27:36]

Realize the privilege of being in such a fight that's the way I like to think of it not only stand but stand proudly indeed you can't stand without standing proudly it's in the word stand itself isn't it stand why well because you've got such a tremendous privilege it's something worth standing about standing for. [00:37:01]

We are not fighting a personal fight here this isn't some personal Skirmish we are fighting the battle of the Lord the battle is not yours but Gods Christianity is not our Affair it's gods and as the Christian church is an army she's the army of the Living God. [00:38:24]

The devil isn't primarily our enemy is the enemy of God it was against God he lifted up himself it was against God that he rebelled it is against God that he does everything he just uses us in our ignorance and Folly to attack God for it's God who made us and God made us in his own image and if the devil can get us down he defeats God. [00:40:00]

Think of the Crown of Glory that is coming to you you feel the battle is long are you weary are you tired do you feel that you are forsaken very well listen to this great Apostle as he writes his last word the last epistle he ever wrote the second epistle to Timothy 4 Listen to him in verse 6 and 7 I am now ready to be offered and the time of my departure is at hand I have fought a good fight I have finished my C I have kept the faith he didn't sleep he kept it he stood.
