Day 1: God's Unchanging Presence in a Changing World
In a world where moral decay and societal challenges seem overwhelming, it is crucial to remember that God's nature remains constant. The story of Elijah serves as a powerful reminder of God's enduring presence and power. Elijah's life was filled with miraculous events that demonstrated God's active involvement in the world, such as the parting of the Jordan River and the revival of the widow's son. These stories challenge us to consider our own faith and the role we play in standing against the tide of evil. Despite the current state of society, with its moral decline and legislative decisions that contradict biblical principles, the real issue is not God's absence but our alignment with His will. God remains as powerful and present as He was in Elijah's time, and our task is to align ourselves with His will, trusting in His unchanging nature. [25:08]
"For I the Lord do not change; therefore you, O children of Jacob, are not consumed." (Malachi 3:6, ESV)
Reflection: In what ways can you align your daily actions with God's unchanging nature, especially when faced with societal pressures that challenge your faith?
Day 2: Becoming a Faithful Witness in Today's World
The world is in desperate need of modern-day Elijahs—individuals who will stand against the tide of evil and boldly proclaim God's truth. Elijah's courage and faith serve as an inspiration for us to rise and become faithful witnesses in our own time. Our faith and courage can inspire others and bring about change, just as Elijah's actions did in his time. The call is for us to align our hearts with God's, to seek His strength, and to become vessels through which His power can be displayed. By standing firm in our faith and speaking out against the prevailing darkness, we can become beacons of hope and truth in a world that desperately needs it. [19:32]
"But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light." (1 Peter 2:9, ESV)
Reflection: Who in your life needs to hear a message of hope and truth today, and how can you be a faithful witness to them?
Day 3: Understanding the Consequences of Societal Choices
The decline in Western culture, marked by decreasing birth rates and moral erosion, mirrors the fall of ancient Rome. Our societal choices, such as abortion and the acceptance of lifestyles contrary to biblical teachings, have far-reaching consequences. These choices contribute to the moral decay and challenges we face today. It is important to recognize the impact of these decisions and to consider how we can make choices that align with biblical principles. By doing so, we can help to reverse the tide of moral decline and contribute to a society that reflects God's values and truth. [17:21]
"Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap." (Galatians 6:7, ESV)
Reflection: What societal choices do you see around you that contradict biblical principles, and how can you actively choose to live in a way that reflects God's truth?
Day 4: Trusting in God's Provision and Power
Just as God provided for Elijah and the widow, He promises to meet our needs when we put Him first. Our faithfulness and trust in Him open the door for His miraculous provision. The story of Elijah reminds us that God's provision and power are not limited to the past but are available to us today. By aligning our hearts with God's and seeking His strength, we can experience His provision in our lives. This requires us to trust in His unchanging nature and to put Him first in all areas of our lives. [23:05]
"And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus." (Philippians 4:19, ESV)
Reflection: In what area of your life do you need to trust God for His provision, and how can you actively demonstrate that trust today?
Day 5: Aligning with God to Experience His Power
To experience God's power in our lives, we must be in harmony with Him. This alignment allows us to become vessels through which His strength and presence are manifested. The promise of God's provision, healing, and guidance is contingent upon our willingness to put Him first and trust in His unchanging nature. By aligning our hearts with God's and seeking His strength, we can become vessels through which His power can be displayed. Let us be encouraged to rise as Elijahs in our time, standing boldly for righteousness and allowing God to work through us for His glory. [30:46]
"Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded." (James 4:8, ESV)
Reflection: What steps can you take today to align your heart with God's, and how might this alignment allow you to experience His power in your life?
Sermon Summary
In today's reflection, we delve into the profound question, "Where is Jehovah, the God of Elijah?" This inquiry resonates deeply as we navigate a world seemingly engulfed by darkness and moral decay. The narrative of Elijah, a prophet who stood boldly against the evils of his time, serves as a powerful reminder of God's enduring presence and power. Elijah's life was marked by miraculous events, such as the parting of the Jordan River and the revival of the widow's son, which demonstrated God's active involvement in the world. These stories challenge us to consider our own faith and the role we play in standing against the tide of evil.
The current state of our society, with its moral decline and legislative decisions that contradict biblical principles, often leads us to question God's presence. Yet, the real issue is not God's absence but our alignment with His will. The decline in Western culture, marked by decreasing birth rates and the erosion of Christian values, mirrors the fall of ancient Rome, as noted by historians. This decline is exacerbated by societal choices such as abortion and the acceptance of lifestyles contrary to biblical teachings.
However, the message is clear: God has not changed. He remains as powerful and present as He was in Elijah's time. The challenge lies in finding modern-day Elijahs—men and women willing to stand firm in their faith and speak out against the prevailing darkness. The call is for us to align our hearts with God's, to seek His strength, and to become vessels through which His power can be displayed.
As we reflect on these truths, we are reminded that God is ready to manifest His power in our lives, but it requires us to be in harmony with Him. The promise of God's provision, healing, and guidance is contingent upon our willingness to put Him first and trust in His unchanging nature. Let us be encouraged to rise as Elijahs in our time, standing boldly for righteousness and allowing God to work through us for His glory.

Sermon Clips
Elisha had been called of God to take the place of Elijah as God's spokesman to the nation of Israel. The time has come now for Elijah to be taken up, and so he is journeying towards Moab. As they come to Gilgal, the prophets come out and they say to Elisha, do you know that your master is going to be taken from you today? And he said, I know that, hold your peace. [00:05:43]
We read of the life of Elijah. We read of how God's power was manifested in and through this prophet. We see him as he stands up against the evil of his days, that long prophet of God, standing against the evil that had pervaded that society, standing against the king who had turned his back upon God, ready to rebuke him for his evil, challenging the evil prophets of Ba'al. [00:08:12]
The nation of Israel had become very corrupt. The leadership was totally corrupted, and the people were following in the evil. Elijah had challenged the false prophets of Ba'al. They came to Mount Carmel, they built their altars with the condition that they would pray to their gods, and the god that would answer by fire would be acknowledged as God. [00:09:11]
Our culture has developed extremely high standards because of the Christian influence, but we are rapidly declining into oblivion as our nation becomes more and more pagan. It takes 2.1 babies per couple to maintain the population. That's just a mathematical fact. To maintain the same population, it takes 2.1 babies per couple. [00:12:18]
Gibbon in his classic "The Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire" declared that Rome was not really conquered by an enemy from without, but it had rotted from within. The moral planks were so rotten that the nation just collapsed, and he spoke of the five reasons for the fall of Rome. [00:17:13]
The real question isn't where is Jehovah, the God of Elijah, but where are the men and women who, as Elijah, will put their trust and hope in Jehovah and stand up against the evil tide of this world in which we live. Longfellow the poet wrote, "I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day." [00:27:12]
Elisha found that he was right there with him as he returned to the Jordan River. Jehovah had not departed though his prophet did, and you will find that God is right here today. As Paul was talking to the Athenian philosophers concerning what to them was the unknown God, but Paul said he is the true and the Living God, the creator of the universe. [00:28:37]
God is here and God is wanting to work today, but it is necessary that we get in harmony with God. As the prophet said to King Asa, the eyes of the Lord go to and fro throughout the entire Earth to show himself strong on behalf of those whose hearts are in harmony with his. [00:29:40]
God can part the waters for you today. God can use you to make a stand for righteousness. God can touch and heal your body today. He can provide for your every need, and the thing is he wants to do that. He wants to show himself strong on your behalf, but it is important if you're going to experience the power of Jehovah, the God of Elijah, you must then first get in harmony with him. [00:30:30]
Raise up men and women who will make a stand for righteousness, who will dare to go against the flow of the world and speak the truth. Lord, may we be that man and that woman that will dare to challenge the powers that be and to speak out for righteousness. Lord, reveal and show yourself by the healing of the sick, by the raising of the dead. [00:31:29]
It could be that you've been a little hesitant or fearful in speaking up against the evil of this society, that the world sort of has you cowed into silence. You need the boldness to speak God's truth. They're here to pray for you. It could be that you're needing a touch in your body, you need the touch of Jehovah, the healing power of God in your life. [00:33:06]
It could be that you're going through financial stress. It looks like it's sort of the end. We'll bake a cake and die, but God is able to supply your needs and to take care of your needs when you put him first. And so I would encourage you get your heart right with God, that's the key, that's the secret, getting in harmony with him. [00:33:44]
